GFA - Suicide Stopped by Radio

Lakshmi just wanted to die. Her life no longer had purpose or enjoyment.

She was also very sick. The treatments she went through were useless for curing her. And no amount of medicine could strengthen her weak heart or alleviate her pain.

Filled with despair, Lakshmi decided to end her life. But at this crucial time, she happened to tune in to a Gospel for Asia radio broadcast. It felt as if the person speaking was able to meet her right where she was, and the truths he shared from the Scriptures comforted her heart.

That day, Lakshmi began to see that her life could have meaning. As the Lord spoke to her heart, she received Christ as her Savior and committed her life to Him. And to her amazement, the Lord reached down and healed not only her spiritual heart, but her physical heart as well.

Today in a South Indian village, a woman who was once planning her suicide is instead worshiping the living God. And it all started with the voice she heard on the radio. Please pray for her continued growth in the faith.

Lakshmi’s life is one of thousands in Asia that are being transformed through GFA’s evangelistic radio broadcasts, aired daily in 92 languages. To learn more about this powerful tool and how YOU can reach precious men and women like Lakshmi through your gifts and prayers, please click here.

7-Day Challenge "A simple strategy to share your faith"

7-Day Challenge

“A simple strategy to share your faith”

How can you share the Gospel with people who haven’t heard it? Or have heard but haven’t trusted in Christ? The Gospel gives people hope and promises eternal life for those who accept Christ as their Savior. It’s an urgent message, and you can share it!

Take this 7-day challenge to reach those around you and point the way to everlasting life. You can do it alone, with a Christian friend or get your church group involved. Don’t wait. Start today!
Be intentional. List five or more people who don’t know Christ. This could be friends, family, neighbors or co-workers.
Pray. Pray for each person on your list. Pray that God will soften their hearts and open their minds to hear His voice, and that He will open doors for you to share what He’s done in your life.
Set a good example. How do you treat the people on your list? What does your Facebook status or choice of music say about you? Set a godly example by your kind spirit, gentle words and selfless actions.
Get personal. Invite them to visit PeaceWithGod.net, an interactive website that shares the Gospel in four simple steps. Email them, share it on Facebook or Twitter, or in person. Say something like, “Hey, check out this site. I found it encouraging and thought you might like it. Let me know what you think!” If the person you’re reaching struggles with a specific need or question, sharing one of these pages might be helpful.
Start a conversation. Follow up with the people on your list. Ask what they thought of the website. Refer them to KnowJesus.net if they want a personal mentor to answer questions about God or basics of Christianity, or to GoingFarther.net if they want to explore this on their own or grow spiritually.
Spread the word. Get your friends, family and church involved in the 7-day challenge to reach as many people as possible.
Don’t stop! Continue setting a godly example, praying and sharing the website with others. You can’t give people a heart for Christ, but you do have a responsibility to share God’s Word. God is with you and can use you in ways you never thought possible. Also consider volunteering with Search for Jesus to tell others about Christ online! We provide the training. Visit SearchforJesus.net.

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58

Search For Jesus Evangelism - Sharing the Gospel Online 24/7 (@SearchforJesus)

As you read this, many hurting people are searching for answers right now online and are searching for hope that would satisfy their longing souls. People are ready—and waiting—to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has an online ministry called Search For Jesus - which is an online Evangelism outreach to Share the Gospel 24/7.

http://godrev.jesus.net/joy-in-heaven/
Many people commit their lives to Christ through PeaceWithGod.net an online website dedicated to share the Gospel by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). BGEA is working to connect new believers who commit their lives to Jesus through their online outreach to a local, Biblically sound church that has a heart for Christ and passion for discipleship.

The Goal for BGEA is not just to see the unsaved come to Christ but to encourage new believers to get involved in church to help them grow and become spiritually mature Christians. Through BGEA’s Internet evangelism outreach, you can help them as they make that decision and continue to grow in their faith. Without even leaving the comfort of your own home you can help make a real difference in the lives of so many.

BGEA is looking for e-counselors (people who chat online @ http://PeaceWithGod.net), discipleship coaches (people who guide new believers through a 5-week course online @ http://KnowJesus.net) and churches to join in this innovative ministry and help others have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Please pray about joining the BGEA Internet Evangelism team and visit: http://SearchForJesus.net to learn more today! Volunteers need only have a heart for sharing the Gospel, an Internet connection, and to be available a few hours a week. You will also undergo a complete Search for Jesus training program so your well prepared and ready.

I’m depressed. I can’t get excited about the holidays.

The malls are packed, the neighborhoods lit up, and your friends are making holiday plans. You want to join them, but you can’t snap out of it. Tinsel and trinkets just don’t fill the void.

But God says you are never alone. He cares about you. He knows your name and understands what you’re going through. He can bear your heartache and longs to walk beside you if you’ll have Him. He’s your friend, your confidant and a great listener.

Don’t let Christmas slip by feeling lonely and discouraged. Replace the weight of depression with the freeing hope that only God can offer.

A Christmas Opportunity (Ideas from My Hope with Billy Graham)

December is in full swing! You are most likely seeing Christmas decorations, lights, nativities, shopping crowds, and lots of red and green. We invite you to take a break, grab an eggnog or cup of hot chocolate, and sit back for a moment and BREATHE!

We invite you to look around and identify a neighbor with no family nearby, someone going through hardship financially or emotionally, and someone who doesn’t have the same HOPE that you have in Jesus.

Make a list and begin praying for each of these people. Pray that the Lord will provide the perfect opportunity for you to reach out to them and share His love with them during this Christmas season. Encourage your church to do the same.

If you find yourself on the hesitant side and in need of relationship building ideas, consider these opportunities:

    • Pay a visit with baked goods and your Christmas card … perhaps even an invitation to your church’s Christmas musical or service/program.

    • Take your family caroling to the home of the elderly on your list.

    • Ladies, host a cookie or ornament exchange specifically with the women on your list to break the ice and get acquainted.

    • Have a “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” party for the families on your list as an interactive opportunity for the children.

    • Extend an invitation to your family Christmas party or even dinner with your family on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
As you build relationships this Christmas season, we hope you’ll get your church and friends involved in My Hope with Billy Graham so that, together, we can celebrate the birth of our Savior by spreading His love throughout our communities! JOY to the world! The Lord has come!

Shooting, Massacre, Tragedy

Perhaps you have heard about the recent shooting that happened, CNN reported "A heavily armed gunman attacked an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater early Friday, tossing tear gas before opening fire on the terrified audience and killing 12 and wounding 38, authorities said."

You must know that anytime these sort of things go on we have to know that it's the handy work of the devil. You see the devil comes to do harm but the Lord comes to heal. Yes it's true that God has sovereign control over all things, but it's important to remember that God is not the source of tragedy.

John 10:10-11 says, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep."

Jesus is the Author of life and laid down His life for us so we can be saved and be with Him forever. We don't understand how or why this evil stuff happens but we know it's from the enemy. Some people become angry at God, but we must not trade in what we know to be true for what we don't know. We know that God is a good God, that He is loving, gentle, compassionate, merciful, forgiving. So based on what we know about Him and have experienced with Him, we know that we can trust Him.

The enemy seeks to get us to point the finger at someone and try to blame someone for the evil going on in the world today. But we are the ones to blame, we through Adam brought sin and suffering and death into the world. It was the devil that thief that came to destroy us in the Garden of Eden and tempted Adam to rebel against God, but Jesus came to undo all of that. Jesus came to give us life, and to rescue us from death. Jesus came to heal our broken hearts. Our only hope, and peace can be found in Jesus.

"Tragic events remind us not only that we live in an imperfect and fallen world, but that there is a God who loves us and wants something better for us than the world has to offer." (http://www.gotquestions.org/meaning-in-tragedy.html). Jesus is coming back soon, and will one day put a stop to all that it wrong. But when people are suffering, it then becomes our responsibility to minister to them, care for them, pray for them, and comfort them.

I would encourage you to join us today to pray for these people and for their family. Pray for healing, for physical, mental, emotional, and most importantly spiritual healing. Pray for their salvation if they don't know God. Pray that as you encounter this type of stuff in the news daily that you can use it to point people to Jesus. Pray that the Lord will come back soon.
