World Leprosy Day 2013

Please pray for Gospel for Asia's leprosy ministry, that many suffering from this terrible disease would embrace the Savior, who is reaching out to them in love.

What is Leprosy?

Leprosy is a chronic bacterial disease that is not highly contagious, contrary to popular belief, and is treatable with the right resources.

Unfortunately, many people in developing countries do not have access to treatment and are shunned by society. Since nearly 70 percent of leprosy cases are found in India, Gospel for Asia's leprosy ministry is devoted to sharing the Good News of Jesus with the victims of this disease, as well as helping them with the many challenges and needs they face.

World Leprosy Day

World Leprosy Day is held to increase awareness and to reach those affected by leprosy. For this day, Gospel For Asia-supported missionaries will be ministering at many leprosy colonies, spreading the love of Christ through practical gifts to bless the leprosy patients and their families.

Please pray for the following areas of India and the various ministries that will take place on World Leprosy Day, that the Lord would bless the believers and help them communicate His incredible love for the leprosy patients.

Karnataka: Visiting a leprosy colony and distributing fresh fruit.
Uttar Pradesh: Distributing food packets to 60 patients.
Haryana: Providing blankets for 25 families in a leprosy colony.
Chhattisgarh: Providing hygienic items to 60 patients in 2 leprosy colonies.
Tamil Nadu: Distributing antiseptic, ointment and cotton to leprosy patients who beg in the railway stations.
Rajasthan: Distributing food and clothes in a leprosy colony.
Bihar: Giving blankets to 20 patients in a leprosy colony.
West Bengal: Ministering to and encouraging 61 leprosy patients.
Madhya Pradesh: Reaching out to leprosy patients at a railway station.
