I know I'm going to Heaven because I feel saved? Or because I feel at peace? Or because I feel like God loves me? Do you reley on your feelings?

Should We Base Our Christian Experience upon Our Feelings?
Human beings are emotional creatures. We make many decisions on how we feel at the moment. Yet our Christian experience should not be based upon our moment to moment feelings. We are to walk by what we know, not how we feel. This is because our feelings change.

Walk By Faith
The Bible emphasizes that our Christian experience should be based upon faith:

For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

God Is Faithful
The children of Israel let their feelings get in the way of trusting God. The saw the giants in the land and were afraid. The forgot what God had done for them.

Great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:23).

Examples

Hebrews 11 provides examples of men and women of faith. We are given these accounts to serve as examples for us.

Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things they also lusted (1 Corinthians 10:6).

Summary

Our Christian experience should be based upon what we know, not how we feel. God's Word has provided examples of men and women of faith. As we read the account of the faithfulness in their lives it should encourage us also to be faithful.
