Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Hear is an encouraging message we received from a ministry called Faith Comes by Hearing.
From the Philippines:

"One of our Manila pastors was riding the city bus across town while playing the [Audio Bible] Proclaimer for all the passengers to hear. Near the end of Matthew 5, three young men got up from their seats and approached the pastor. They placed knives and loaded guns into his lap and said they did not want to rob the bus as they had planned. He shared the Gospel with the young men and they prayed to receive Christ. The young men had gotten on the bus as robbers and got off the bus as new creations in Christ!" 1.

Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Are you hearing the word of God? We hope you are are not just reading the Bible for the sake of reading it but seeking to draw closer to God and enhance your relationship with Jesus. One of the things we have found to be so fruitful in our lives is to read the word of God out loud. Even if we are the only one in the room, we have found that their is such power in the spoken word of God. Not only does it help us retain more of what we are reading but we have noticed that our faith in God and in His word have increased so much more.

If you are not currently reading through your Bible here are some helpful plans. And remember the goal is not to read your Bible in a set amount of time but to just read the Bible.

December 2011 - God loves us!

"For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life" John 3:16

Have we forgotten what Christmas is all about? "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" Isaiah 9:6. Christ is God's great Christmas Gift to the world: "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift" 2 Corinthians 9:15. Christ does for us what no one else can do: He forgives our sin and reconciles us to God, and gives us new life by raising us up from the death of sin to life in Christ. Jesus is the reason for the Season, and we want to encourage you to share the Gospel this Christmas season and all year long.

But with all of the Christmas rush, the sad thing is that Christ is often left out and so many people forget that it is actually His birthday we are celebrating. Christmas is a wonderful time to share, and maybe you can share the Gospel with the salesperson when you purchase someone's Christmas gift, or place the Christmas Story with your Christmas cards. You can also simply say "Merry Christmas" to people and tell them about Christ as it's even easier during the Christmas season.

Remember that this is not a season of Happy Holidays but of Merry Christmas. Christmas is not about a santa claus or snow men or even a baby in a manager but about Immanuel, God With Us, God sending the Savior into the world to save us from our sins. The biggest and best gift you can give away is the free gift of God's promise of eternal life through faith in Christ. And many lost people love to buy gifts, so just go ahead and be bold to tell them about the greatest Gift ever, Salvation through Jesus! Let's magnify that Jesus is the reason for the Season and that Christmas is about what Jesus Christ did on the cross for us and that he rose again defeating death.

Remember also that prayer is a powerful way you can make an impact for eternity, so pray that people come to put their trust in Jesus. As we celebrate Christ's birth, may the Lord help us proclaim the message that He came to save us from our sins. And as we look to the beginning of this next year, may the Lord teach us how to walk closer with Him, grow in the new life we have with Christ, and live for Him as He renews our hearts. During this Christmas season we hope that you have a blessed Christmas with your family and friends, and pray that you will continue to read His Word and share the good news that God loves us.

Never forget, that God didn’t put your present under a tree. He put it on a tree!

November 2011 - Thankful

"Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing. Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations."

Psalm 100, A Psalm of Thanksgiving

The Lord continues to remind us that when we serve the Lord it should be with gladness. And the same is true with giving in that if we can't give joyfully to the Lord, then it's better off not to give, because God loves a cheerful giver with a cheerful heart (2 Corinthians 9:7). God is worthy of our praise, because He is God. We are living on God's earth (Psalm 24:1), breathing God's air, drinking God's water, eating God's food, and everything that we have, everything that we see, everything that we're surrounded with belongs to God. Our attitude when serving should be filled with gladness and thanksgiving for the salvation we have through Jesus.

This month we had a 3-week home Bible study looking that the Gospel. We have done evangelism classes in the past but they have always been at church and not at our home. We had a great time and if we do another one we will most likely have it at our home again. There is a dynamic of building relationships and discipleship that can take place outside the church building that is just awesome. So we looked mainly that 3 things, one for each week as follows, the Gospel and you, the Gospel and your family, and the Gospel and the world. As people were leaving on our last night they told us they felt more equipped and encouraged to share the Gospel.

Also one of the ladies who attended our study was able to share the Gospel while waiting for jury duty, (she also told us that Aaron's memorial service motivated her to learn how to witness) and was very bold in talking about Jesus, wow, to God be the glory. “...These who have turned the world upside down have come here too” (Acts 17:6). It was an epic time and personally we were also so encouraged by listening to the testimony of what God is doing in the lives of those we serve with in the Church. This has truly been a wonderful month, and we have had a great time with our family for Thanksgiving. Joshua turned 3 months old and we are amazed at how quickly he is developing and one characteristic that always remains is his big smile. He is the happiest little baby and loves listening to the Bible read to him. Joshua continues to eat well and sleep all night and is growing so fast up right before our eyes. We have so much to be thankful for and we are truly blessed and filled with joy as we raise our son. Praise the Lord for His goodness, for His mercy, and for His truth. May God just cause your month to be filled with thanksgiving and praise unto Him.

October 2011 - Trusting the Lord

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."

Proverbs 3:5-6

This month has been a time where we have really had to trust the Lord and lean on Him. For over a year we were blessed with being able to attend a young-married-couples Bible study and made new friends who have been such a blessing over the past few years. All of our wife's were able to leave their jobs and become stay at home wife's, and most couples became expecting parents. We have been so blessed in having true fellowship that is centered in Jesus Christ and His Word.

However we were struck with shocking news that our friend Aaron who worked for PG&E on his way home from work with his coworkers were an accident, and their truck had gone off the road into a deep river, and that he had passed away. The first few days were very hard to get through and tears would not stop coming from our eyes. We turned to the Lord and got on our knees and begin to seek Him and read the Bible and prayed with each other. We know that Aaron our close friend and brother in the Lord who is a faithful follower and servant of Jesus Christ, is present with the Lord.

It has been a few weeks now since he went to be with the Lord in Heaven but we still miss him dearly each day. He was a very godly man who loved Jesus and his wife and unborn son. We ask that you join us in prayer to pray for Lisa and both of their families who are Believers and are in a continual need of comfort, peace, healing, and trust in the Lord. Aaron is a guy that everyone loved, and he brought so much joy into all of our lives as he lived a radical life for Jesus. It is comforting to know that death is not the end for those who believe. This has been a difficult time and is one of those things we don't understand the reason why it happen, but we know God and His loving Character and trust Him completely.

Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die" (John 11:25). Jesus overcame death through His resurrection, and we have a confident expectation and hope to be reunited again in Heaven. Those who know Jesus as Savior will have eternal life ("And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand" John 10:28). God has prepared a new home for us where there will be no more death, tears or pain (Revelation 21:1-4). "We do not... grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope" (1 Thessalonians 4:13).

Through this experience we have been learning how important our friendships are and how investing in each other brings an encouragement to each other and helps us all keep our eyes on Jesus. May you live a life of no compromise and remain unstained and unpolluted from the world in being a sold-out, radical, disciple and follower of Jesus Christ up until the day He either comes for His church or takes us home to be with Him before then.

So don't let any excuse or the busyness of life get in the way for real friendships that are centered in the Lord. Because the only thing that will matter for all of eternity is if we believed in Jesus and how we lived our life's for Jesus. So redeem the time while you still can and look up for our redemption draws near.
"One life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last."

Wonderful times we got to spend with Aaron before he went to be with the Lord.
Friends who love Jesus Christ and live out the Gospel and for our hope in Heaven.
Being a God of love who brings comfort and healing in difficult times.

September 2011 - Being a Parent

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth.

Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them...

Psalm 127:3-5

Being a parent is the greatest joy and children are such a blessing. Yes, its true that there are many nights of only getting a few hours of sleep but to feel the warmth and love of holding your own child is priceless. To just stare into their eyes and watch their every move and listen to their every sound, is exciting. God's Word tells us that He gave up His One and only Son for us. I can't imagine ever giving up my son, and especially for the life of someone else. What a love the Father has showed us by sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, to be buried, and rise again the third day.

Knowing that Jesus took my place upon that cross and the cost it took for the Father to send Him, it's an amazing Love. I find myself often thanking God for my son, and then remembering that He sent us His Son, and I'm even more thankful. Maybe you feel distant from God if so just remember how far He went to bring you closer to Himself by sending His only Son Jesus who died for our sins was buried and rose again. If you have children make sure you tell them about Jesus Christ, His work for our salvation, the atonement, the cross, the blood, the sacrifice, and His intercession for us. I think they understand more than we give them credit for, and they are never too young to know that Jesus loves them.

We know that we cannot make our children love the Bible, because only the Holy Spirit can give them a heart to delight in the Word. However we can make our children acquainted with the Bible. We can fill their minds with Scripture. Let the Word dwell in them richly. That's exactly what we are doing with our son Joshua. We want to give him the Bible, the whole Bible, even while he is very young.

As parents it is our primary job to teach our kids the Word of God, and minister to our children. We pray that God will equip more parents to become ministers in their household and that their children will come to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord. We pray that the Holy Spirit will help us as we seek to raise Joshua in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Our prayer for Joshua is that one day he will lead many people into the eternal promised land. Hopefully that's your prayer too. May God bless you and your family!

Refreshment as we celebrated our sons first: stroll in the park, church service, trip to store, attendance at a wedding, baseball game. Oh and allowing us to watch him roll-over twice all on his own at 3 weeks old!

August 2011 - Joshua is Here!

This Monthly update will be short... Our son Joshua is Here!

We have chosen the name Joshua Timothy for our beautiful new son.

He was born at 10:38 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2011.
And he was 20 inches long, and 8 pounds, 2 ounces.
The meaning of the name Joshua is "God is my salvation".

We would love it if you would be in prayer with us as we have become new parents. May God use us to bring our son up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:4), and may Joshua lead many people into the eternal promised land.

No doubt if you too have been sharing the Gospel, you have noticed that your prayer life has increased. I can recall spending hours upon hours in prayer for the first man I shared Christ with. I can remember the first High School student who professed to not believe in Christ and how I wept for him and stayed up all night just praying for his salvation. I can remember seeking God earnestly on my face, crying out on my knees, and pleading God for the salvation of others. This passion of prayer comes when we obey God and share the Gospel that He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, and that we can receive salvation through Jesus Christ.

"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." Matthew 21:22

The purpose of prayer isn't to get my will done but to get God's will done. Anyone who is a disciple, who has denied themselves and taken up their cross to follow Jesus Christ, is no doubt more concerned about God's will, than their own will. It's in God's will that there is power in prayer and this promise for us who seek it. And yet I think we often find ourselves so focused on self that we neglect on Who we are directing our prayers to. That or we become so consumed with the issue we are praying about we loose focus on the power of God and what He can do. I know I sure have been focused on self instead of God before.

But prayer is not just something we do in the situations we feel we have no power over but in those times we are also so confident that we can make something work or fix something because we know how to do it. I can recall helping in one of our first Mens Conferences at our Church and doing the worship slides that would appear on the screen for all the men to be able to read and sing as they pour out their hearts to God. Now, I know a lot about computers and have spent a lot of my life working with them, both hardware and software.

And this time God chose to show me all of that doesn't matter. I tried over and over to fix the problem with the file being corrupt, and then after being led in an example of prayer by a brother, I too begin to pray. And as soon as I had finished I tried again to prove I was going crazy and by God's wisdom and power it worked. God doesn't need me to fix it, but to simply rely upon Him, and realize that He is so much smarter than me. And then there was the time our door handle broke between our house and garage. It was a spring loaded door and my options were to either bust open the door or remove the door frame. Thank God I finally prayed and he helped me by using a credit card to push the door latch back in and make it work.

Also my wife Anna recently went to her baby shower and took our camera and the battery that I had charged before hand. But when she placed it in the camera she noticed that it was in their wrong and then couldn't get it out. So me being technical and 'Mr. Fix' It decided I would take care of it myself. Only finding out again that I couldn't and decided to pray and seeks God's help. And once again he answered and helped me with getting the battery out and fixing the problem. Oh, how funny we can look when we try doing things on our own without God.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" Philippians 4:6

I have found that the answer for worry is prayer. And those things that concern me and that are prone to cause me to worry are the very things I need to be praying about. And once I pray about them, I need to just trust God to take care of them. I need to know that once I commit them to God, they are in His hands and He will work them out for His glory. Over and over in my life, I keep learning the simple principle of the importance of prayer in the life of Gods children. If we are to be strong in our walk with God we must be in prayer with Him daily. It is an avenue that God has provided for the believer of making known the deepest feelings of our heart.

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving" Colossians 4:2

Prayer has many parts and an important part of prayer is praise and worship, and thanksgiving. It's the Lord's desire that we would pray. I'm learning to be in prayer more and with thanksgiving. Not only is prayer is something that the Bible commands us believers to do, but something we should be excited to do. We don't have to pray but get to be engaged in prayer. For us Christians, prayer is like breathing. That is, it's a whole lot easier to do than to not do it, and that we depend on it to keep going.

Well, in case you don't know my wife Anna and are having a baby boy soon. Our due date is August 24th and we are so thankful for him and are already so excited to meet Joshua. We pray daily for him and ask God to bless him. And we would love it if you would be in prayer with us as we become new parents. May God use us to raise Joshua in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and may Joshua lead many people into the eternal promised land.

"Every disciple is a Christian, but not every Christian is necessarily a disciple".

You see a Christian is one who is saved by Christ, but a disciple is one who follows Christ. To be a disciple you must walk in a submission to the Lord. This means that you have determined in your heart to know Him, to learn to love Him, and to serve Him. He becomes the Lord over your life.

A lot of Christians say that Jesus is their Lord, but very few relate to Him in that way. The term "Lord" is more than just a title, but is the One you live in submission to, and His Lordship must be a way of life for us.

"A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master". Mathew 10:24

"A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher". Luke 6:40

The characteristics of a disciple may be simply stated as:

one who is assured of his salvation (John 3:16) and is activated by the indwelling Holy Spirit (John 14:26-27)
one who is growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior (2 Peter 3:18)
one who shares Christ’s burden for the lost souls of men and women. Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field" (Matthew 9:37-38).

"And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple" Luke 14:27

"So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple" Luke 14:33

As my wife and I are expecting our first child we want to be a Godly example to our son, and I want to get our family into some good habits now even before our son Joshua is born. I know that I'm never going to be a perfect disciple but here are some simple things that we can do right now that will help us and hopefully help you too make a huge difference in the family, which is our main ministry.

Pray with your family. Pray before meals, in bed at night, and together for each of your kids as they sleep. Everyone has a different prayer life, but developing a good prayer habit will lead you into a ministry that changes you and the world around you as well.
Establish a family Bible Study (this is a sacrifice we must make). Make the time (not take the time) to read the Bible, and then start reading it to them. Start anywhere you want—but do it in a planned way—using a particular book of the Bible like the Gospel of John, or verses pertaining to a particular subject, etc. Also a good place to start is Genesis 1–11, which is the foundation of the rest of the Bible. In time, let them read it to you . . . you’re training them and you will all get better at it in time.
Go to a good church and get plugged in. You might have to search for a while to find one that really ministers and teaches according to the Word of God. You might have to leave the church where you’ve been a member for decades, but find one that upholds the content and the authority of the Bible, and just start going there. (Remember, if you’re looking for the “perfect” church, don’t join it because you’ll spoil it! There is no “perfect church”—but it is so important for the family to be a part of a local church—one that really upholds the truth of Scripture.)
Worship Together. Worship is an act celebrating that personal relationship. Through worship, we communicate with our God. Through worship, we acknowledge His lordship and divinity. Worship through music is an expression of intimacy with God. We should acknowledge God and all His power and glory in everything we do. The highest form of praise and worship is obedience to Him and His Word. Worship is to glorify and exalt God—to show our loyalty and admiration to our Father.
Teach your children the ten commandments. The law humbles the heart and prepares the way for grace. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. Guide your children in the knowledge of the Bible. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Teach your children the fear of the Lord. We must each appear before the Lord after this life. Bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord. Solomon said, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). It is the responsibility of parents to take time to teach, to train, and to bring up their children in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.
Be a good example for your children. Let your children see what a Biblical Christian really looks like. We are to share our faith and tell nonbelievers about the wonderful changes Jesus Christ has made in our lives. No matter what our maturity level in the Christian life, we have something to offer. Share the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15).

As Christians we live in the world but we are called to be set apart, to be holy, to be in the world but not of the world. We don't want to copy the behavior and customs of this world, but we want to let God transform us into a new person by changing the way we think, which will change the way we live. Once we spend time with God and get His Word into us then we will know what God wants us to do, and we will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

If we wait for a perfect church, we will never join. If we wait for the perfect ministry, we will never serve. And if we wait for the perfect witnessing opportunity we will never share the good news of Jesus Christ with anyone. Please take a step now to grow spiritually, and don't wait for perfect conditions because they may never come.

Witnessing Without Leaving Home

       The #1 reason I get from people who are reluctant to be a witness for Jesus is this: “I just can’t get out the house (or office).” Fair enough. What if I gave you 2 ways that you could share your faith even if you’re a housebound mom or CEO? Would you be more willing to take a leap of faith and be a witness for Jesus? Here they are:

#1: Take those credit card applications that inundate your mailbox and use the postage paid envelope to send a tract. Grab your favorite ice breaker (gospel tract for people not places), then tuck the tract neatly into the envelope…confident in the fact that the postage has already been paid. And if the recipient will only repent and trust in the Savior, his sins will be paid for as well. Pray for the recipient also. I always encourage people to hand tracts to people and not leave them around but in this case your mailing it and a person will be opening it.

#2: Next time one of those telemarketers call during dinner time, resist the urge to hang-up. This is a great opportunity for those of you who are a bit shy about sharing your faith, give them the Gospel. Here are a few guidelines to help you when witnessing to telemarketers:

   * Always be polite. We want to be good examples of redeemed humanity.
   * Ask them before they start their pitch if you can ask them some questions after you will hear them out (they always say yes). It’s very important that you ask them before they try to sell you on something or they will hang up on you when you share your faith and ask the eternal questions.
   * Start right in with, “When you die, what do you think is on the other side?" or "Would you consider yourself a 'good person'?" You’ll know what to say from there.
   * Make it short and sweet. Don’t anger them by taking up all their time. Remember they have a job to do.
   * Thank them for listening, then listen to their pitch and decline graciously if you are not interested. After this pleasant experience, they might actually want to talk to a Christian face to face!

The Resurrection - "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said." Matthew 28:6

If anyone asks you about Easter or how you celebrated it, you should be able to tell them about Jesus and the whole of the gospel, for this is the essence of the gospel, that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Jesus died the substitute for us criminals, rose as the representative of us pardoned sinners. Jesus died that our sins might be dead, and rose again that our souls may rise to be with Him for all of eternity both in the life after and here and now.

"Jesus said..."I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25

Do you believe that Jesus is the resurrection, the one who can raise us up to life again? Do you believe that Jesus is the life, and those in Him will never die? I hope you do.

Now, most Christians do too. But some are swayed by proposed theories to explain what happened. Several of these resurrection theories originated in ancient times, but others are modern. Here are brief descriptions of the best-known theories:

Stolen Body Theory

Some claim that the followers of Jesus secretly stole his body from the tomb and made up the whole story of the resurrection.

The Gospel of Matthew mentions this accusation in verses 27:64 and 28:13, and refutes it by saying that the tomb was guarded by Roman soldiers. However, it was the death penalty for anyone convicted of unlawfully removing a body from a tomb. A stolen body would involve so many people would be difficult to pull off, and the followers of Jesus were hiding behind closed doors trembling in fear.

Missing Body Theory

Some claim that someone else took the body from the tomb without the disciples knowing about it. In John 20:2-16, this is what Mary Magdalene thought when she first discovered that the tomb was empty. But just because there is a missing body still doesn't convince people that Jesus had returned to life, there must be more. There must be witnessing and that exactly what we find scripture says in 1 Corinthians 15:1-9.

Analogy of 500 Witnesses

Wrong Tomb Theory

Some claim that everyone went to the wrong tomb, which happens to be empty. But to think that no one went to check to see if the tomb of Jesus had a dead body there is insane. The guards were sure to have made a thorough search of the tomb before they reported to the Jewish leaders that his body had vanished as it says in Matthew 28:11-15.

Swoon Theory

Some claim that Jesus wasn't completely dead when he was removed from the cross. They can give you examples that some people in history were mistakenly pronounced dead by doctors. But Jesus was scourged, beaten, and then crucified. According to John 19:34, a soldier thrust a spear into his side shortly before he was removed from the cross, so there should be no doubt He was definably physically dead. If you haven't watched The Passion of the Christ this should help clear up any misconceptions of Roman punishment.

Drugged-Body Theory

Some claim that Jesus was in a sleep like mode due to taking a drug. Now, I had never heard of this theory since this generation, which might say something about it. But they claim that there is a plant-derived drug called Reserpine that can put someone into a temporary death-like state for several days, similar to what happened in the story of Romeo and Juliet. With the followers of Jesus being fishermen and tax collectors I'm sure that this was too complex for the brightest of them and at best a wild idea. This is because Jesus was scourged, beaten, and then crucified. Remember that John 19:34 says a soldier thrust a spear into his side shortly before he was removed from the cross, so there should be no doubt He was definably physically dead. Once again if you haven't watched The Passion of the Christ this should help clear up any misconceptions of Roman punishment.

Twin Theory

Some claim that Jesus had a twin brother. They say that either Jesus or His twin died on the cross and the other appeared as an impostor after Jesus died. The idea of a mistaking identity is another far-fetched idea. John 20:25 says that Thomas and the other disciples saw in the hands of Jesus the print of the nails, and the huge wound to the side of Jesus where the spear went through. These men who had spent 3 years of their lives with Him, the Mother of Jesus, and his brother Jude who later writes a book of the Bible all died except John a martyr's death. Who would do that for a lie, and give up their life, and get nothing out of it but death? This is just another silly idea of men.

Spiritual Resurrection Theory

Some claim that the human body of Jesus either vanished or was removed by God, and he reappeared in his eternal spiritual form. But as we looked at already in John 20:24-29, Jesus invited the disciple Thomas to touch the wounds made by the nails and the spear thrust. The resurrection accounts are not presented in parabolic or symbolic language, but as hard fact. John 20 is full of what Greek grammarians call vivid historical present tenses to stress the historical reality of the Gospel message. Also the gospels state that He was touched and handled, that He had a body, and that He even ate with the disciples (Luke 24:30-41, and John 21:12).

The Resurrection Truth

None of these theories adequately deals with all of the evidence and known facts that surrounded the resurrection of our Lord. And as a student of the Bible you probably know that. 1 Corinthians 15:12-17 "Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up--if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!"

Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, was buried and rose again the third day?
If you do believe that Jesus is alive are you living your life for Him? I hope so.

"Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul." - Ezekiel 3:19 NKJV

This is a powerful message the Church needs to hear. We as believers need to warn people that do not have a personal relationship with Jesus as their Lord and Savior, to repent with asking for forgiveness and trust in Jesus or the will be eternally separated from God.

"Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul." - Ezekiel 3:21 NKJV

I went downtown on St. Patrick's Day to do just that, and warn sinners about the judgment to come on my lunch break. I felt so nervous and prayed the whole way there, just knowing that there would be divine encounters. As I proceeded to hand out ice breakers (gospel tracts are for people not places) to people I could feel the Lord really helping me get out of my comfort zone. As mobs of people dressed in green approached it was interesting in the different responses I got. One group would say "thanks", another would yell out"what the heck is this"?

"Him [Jesus] we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus." - Colossians 1:28 NKJV

I got into a conversion with a man who wanted to know what I was handing out, and as I gave him one he asked what it was. Well I told him what I tell people when they ask, its a Gospel tract sir. He didn't what what that was, so I told him the Gospel is good news on how you can get to Heaven. He smiled but still wanted to know that a tract was.

That made me laugh a little bit because I don't think I had ever been asked that question before. I explained to him that it's information, and information on how he can get to Heaven. Then he said he already knew of a way to get to Heaven, but was open to another. (There is only one way... Jesus said it in John 14:6) How interesting, he took the ice breaker (gospel tracts are for people not places) and as he turned to walk away he told me that he would read it and thanked me. And here I was really hoping it would be pouring rain just to keep everyone away from the bars and got to plant a seed.

"Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears." - Acts 20:31 NKJV

A man who was wearing a green top hat walked by me and it looked like he was carrying a Bible with one of those Bible cases enclosing it. Before he could step off the street and into a coffee joint I handed him a ice breaker (gospel tracts are for people not places) and as he start to read it he put his head down into a sluggish stance. I could tell something wasn't right, and as he walked away not even going into the coffee shop I begin to pray for him too. Lets keep praying for the Gospel to radically impact this town for Jesus Christ.

Patience. It's one of those words we don't always like to hear or even talk about, but a very important one nevertheless. If you're like me this seems to be one of the favorite lessons God likes to teach me. (Even as I tried to post this newsletter several times before the end of the month my browser would crash) I think God has a sense of Humor.

Romans 15:5-6 says "Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

God is in control. And I need to realize that God is in control, that God is going to work. The hard part is I just need to patiently wait for Him. And that is the problem, isn't it? That thing called patience. More often than not, I am tempted to meddle and mess things up, because I don't wait for God. But that is because I am impatient, and maybe you are too. We have a great need to learn patience, don't we?

2 Peter 3:8-9 - "But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering [or patient] toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."

The Lord isn't being slow about his promise to return, as some people really think. No, he is being patient for those who don't know Him (which is for most of us is also including our loved ones). He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent and place their faith in Him. We never know who will be reached by the seeds of truth that we plant in the hearts and minds of individuals, so we must sow the seeds and let God take care of the rest.

Now I really appreciate that God is patience with me, and I am thankful for that. However, I am not so patient with Him or with other people all the time. Let me give you an example, when I'm witnessing and I think this person is not responsive to the gospel I can get frustrated, and want to just move on. But I never know whats going on inside, and you don't either because God sees their heart. He sees something totally different than we do.

So many within the Scriptures got into trouble because they didn't wait upon God. True patience is waiting upon God. I don't know why that should be so difficult, and yet, to me, it's one of the most difficult things in my Christian experience to learn, to wait upon God. And I think that is true throughout the Bible. So often our failure is in waiting upon God.

Galatians 5:22-23 says "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering [or patience], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."

But here is the key, when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And in a world full of false doctrine and prejudice against truth, we must be patient as we seek to lead people to Christ. The testing of our faith develops patience, and that causes us to learn to wait upon God.

James 5:8 says "You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand." We must ask God to give us His eyes that we may see how He sees, and to give us His heart that we love as He loves. May you be apart of Gods gospel work by engaging in it with love and patience. Thank You, Father, for Your patience with us.

Imitate me? (an imitator is a follower)

1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1 says: "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ."

This past year has been one of the most exciting times of my life. As I look back and reflect on how timid and shy I am and how the Lord continues to open the door for me to share the Gospel it just amazes me. Can you say the same? How did you do in sharing the Gospel in 2010? Did you know that throughout the New Testament the disciple Paul invites people around him to Imitate him as he also imitated Christ. He willingly set his life up as an example for people to watch.

What would our Christian lives really look like if we took the phrase “Imitate me” seriously and actually allowed people to witness and watch our lives? Would our lives look different than they do now? Would they see Christ living through us? Imagine what our churches, communities, and world would look like if we took this invitation of Paul to heart and sought to imitate him as he imitated Christ. Imagine instead of telling people to "don't look to me but to Christ as an example" we could say "follow my example, as I follow Christ".

Wow, to have that kind of mindset where we want people to be like us and live like us. I don't know about you but that really got me thinking. I was recently challenged with this at a Youth Workers Conference where the Lord impressed upon my heart that it was not enough for me to wear a name tag that said on it "Imitate", but to say "Imitate Me (Tim)". The thought that the Lord wants people to follow my life as I follow Him meant that I had better be sticking really close to Jesus.

1 Corinthians 4:15-16 says: "For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me."

This year I've made it a goal to reach out with the Gospel more than ever before. Not just event evangelism, where you go to witness on your time table when you have some free time to give to the Lord. But every moment, whether it be at work, on the phone with telemarketers, purposely avoiding the ATM machine or gas pump machines so we can talk to a real person and give them an ice breaker (gospel tracts are for people not places). I know for most of us this does not come natural which is why we need to rely on God and His grace.

The best way to overcome the fear to witness is to just do it, and to practice at it. I've made it a goal to carry ice breakers (gospel tracts are for people not places) with me everyday, and to always have at least one on me, which so far has been causing me to look at everything as an opportunity to share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. If I don't have an ice breaker (gospel tracts are for people not places) on me I feel less inclined to share the Gospel, or look for opportunities, they serve as great reminders when you feel them in your pockets. So I ask you to follow my example and do as I do.

Ephesians 4:29-5:1 says: "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Therefore be imitators of God as dear children."

My desire is simple, to simply follow God's example in everything I do. I want every word that I say to bring God glory, and impart grace to those around me. The hard part is I have to make it a habit to practice, that is to change your mindset, which will change your actions. Thankfully the Lord is the only one that can do this for us, we must pray to God, and allow His Word to transform our minds, so our lives will no longer be conformed to this world.

Here's an example of what I mean, when one of my coworkers asks me how was my weekend, and instead of me just saying "I had a great weekend, how was yours?", I say "It was so good, I was so refreshed as I heard Gods Word this weekend at Church, and I can't seem to stop singing worship songs to Jesus, what an awesome weekend, and how was your weekend?" This is truly how I feel inside but I just don't share this, when I should be. I don't know about you but I want to share the Gospel and do good.

3 John 1:11 says: "Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God."

Don't let any bad example influence your life, and don't listen to any excuse not to share the Gospel. The only reason you wouldn't want other people to follow your example is because pride has gotten the way. Simply follow only what is good, and remember that those who do good prove that they are God's children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

Make sure 2011 is a year you redeem the time and spend sharing the truth of God and His salvation. Go and tell someone today about Jesus, and then tomorrow, and then next week and write down your adventures because they will be sure to encourage you as you see God working in your life as you Imitate Jesus.

"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

We know that Jesus is the reason for the Season, and I want to encourage you to make this Christmas a time of sharing the Gospel. Christmas is a wonderful time to share, and the following Free Christmas Resources were created just for the holiday season.

Maybe you can give an ice breaker (gospel tracts are for people not places) to the salesperson when you purchase someone's Christmas gift. Or place the Christmas Story with your gift card. Or even share the Gospel with Santa and his helpers when your kids get their photos taken. Simply say "Merry Christmas" and then hand them an ice breaker (gospel tracts are for people not places), this the one time of year you can say that and it's even easier during the Christmas season.

Whatever you do this Christmas, I pray that the Lord would help each of you reach the lost this Christmas. Remember that this is not a season of Happy Holidays but of Merry Christmas. It is ironic that people don't wish you a happy holiday for all the other holidays of the year, only Christmas. May the Lord help us all share the Good News of Jesus Christ with our friends, family, and those who aren't Born-Again.

When you witness, trust the Holy Spirit to do the following:
Illuminate the mind of unbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)
Pierce the heart of unbelievers (Acts 2:37)
Move the direction of unbelievers (Luke 15:18)

If you are not growing in your relationship with God, and need more fuel then I want to encourage you to start witnessing and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When you share your faith in Jesus Christ, by witnessing it will do the following: Drive you to the Bible, Drive you to Prayer, and Drive you away from Sin.

Remember that evangelism itself isn't converting people. It is simply telling the message of the good news of Jesus Christ. We don't hope to evangelize. We do it, knowing that God is glorified in it. God commands everyone who believes in Christ to preach the gospel. It is not a guilt-driven burden, but a joyful privilege.

You will soon be surrounded by lost people so don't let them get away. Let's magnify that Jesus is the reason for the Season and that Christmas is about what Jesus Christ did on the cross for us and that he rose again defeating death. Christmas is not about a baby in a manager but God With Us. May you have a very Merry Christmas this Christmas Season!

Servant (The Greek word is doulos which means a bond-servant, a slave by choice, devoted to another to the disregard of one's own interests)

Matthew 25:21 - "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'"

This verse really hit me hard when I realized that Jesus would not say to me, Well done good and faithful evangelist, Bible teacher, man of prayer, or any such thing. But what will He say? And what do we long to hear? "Well done, good and faithful servant". Are you a servant of Jesus Christ? If so, what is your motivation to do so?

2 Corinthians 9:7 - "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." God is wanting for us to be giving not only our resources cheerfully but also our time and defiantly in the way we serve. Imagine with me that your at one of your favorite restaurants and the food is tastefully wonderful, the atmosphere is alive and friendly, but the service was terrible. Would you really want to go back?

In the same way we are to give ourselves up to the will of Jesus Christ completely and those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing the Lord's cause among men. In essence the way we serve others reflects or lacks the reflection of the way we serve the Lord. We want to reflect Jesus in such as way that it will leave people wanting to come back to hear more about Jesus, and have a relationship with Him.

Colossians 3:22-24 - "Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."

Just as we must obey your earthly boss or those in authority over us in everything we do, we want to make sure that we to please them all the time, and not just when they are watching us. The Lord would have us work hard and cheerfully at whatever we do, because we are really working for the Lord Jesus Christ rather than for people.

Matthew 20:25-28 - "But Jesus called them to Himself and said, 'You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.'"

You know that in this world big corporations, governments, officials, and bosses are mostly tyrants, and make sure everyone else notices them and their power and status. But as followers of Jesus Christ it should be quite different. Jesus said that if we want to be a leader among our fellow brothers and sisters we must be their servant. Remember that Jesus came here not to be served but to serve others, and Jesus gave His life as a ransom for the whole world.

Matthew 23:11-12 - "But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

If we desire to be greatly used by the Lord then we must be a servant. If we try to exalt ourselves will be humbled, and if you don't think so just wait. I have found that there is usually a big dose of humility right around the corner. However if we chose to humble ourselves will be exalted by the Lord Jesus Christ. Now if we think great I'll humble myself and then God will exalt me, think again. God will humble you, until your serving with the right heart, the right motivation, and the right attitude.

Revelation 19:10 - "And I [John] fell at his feet to worship him [an angel]. But he said to me, 'See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.'"

John fell down at the feet of the angel in the Book of Revelation when he was showed a vision while imprisoned in the island of Patmos, and tried to worship the angel. But the angel said to John, "See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!" Even angles are servants of God, just like you and me we are commanded to only worship God. Not people, not our spouse, not our money, not our pastor, not our Bible, but only to worship Jesus Christ.

Remember that as a bond-servants we should think of ourselves in terms of stewardship rather than ownership. May the love of Christ so flow forth from your life that people in your neighborhood, around your work, would just be touched by God's love as you become His instrument bearing His truth and His love to them. May God be with you and keep you in the love of Jesus Christ to serve Him more cheerfully and faithfully.

Transformation
(The Greek word for transform is where we get the word metamorphosis from, which is the scientific word describing transformation.)

Romans 12:2 - "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

As Christians we live in the world but we are called to be set apart, to be holy, to be in the world but not of the world. We don't want to copy the behavior and customs of this world, but we want to let God transform us into a new person by changing the way you think, which will change the way we live. Once we spend time with God and get His Word into us then we will know what God wants us to do, and we will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

2 Corinthians 3:18 - "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."

For those of us who are born-again we have had that veil removed that once separated us from the love and the grace of God. When we sin it still hinders our relationship with God but not our eternity with God. When I was younger and first learned to drive the car, if I had crashed the family car and not told my Day it would hinder our relationship, but we would still be family. 1 John 1:9 tells us that "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

So in the same way if instead of hiding my car crash from my father if I told him what I did and he forgave me then our relationship would be restored, so in the same way our Heavenly Father seeks our restoration. Once we are in a right relationship with Jesus we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord, and as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Jesus and reflect his glory even more.

Philippians 3:20-21 - "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself."

Thanks be to God that we are now citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. Are you eagerly waiting for him to return as Lord and King? If not get ready He is coming very soon. He will take these weak mortal bodies of ours and change them into glorious bodies like his own.

May the Lord be with you and watch over you and may you experience God's power working in your life, as He would transform you by the power of His Spirit into the image of Jesus Christ.

I was recently convicted by the Holy Spirit that my ministry was focusing too much on evangelism, and lacked in the ministry of discipleship. I was also challenged by a close brother and a dear friend my mine, and both have led me to change my mind, and change my main direction in ministry. My aim is still to become more Christ-like and to follow His example and lead others to do the same.

I can still recall the words that I heard sometime within this last year on the radio from Pastor Chuck Smith "Christ has called us as His followers not to go and make converts but to go and make disciples...to make disciples requires teaching, mentoring, and modeling the lifestyle of Jesus". If we are going to walk like Jesus walked, we must learn from Him, and we must lay down our pride and love like He does.

Matthew 28:19, says:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." I want to reflect on this scripture for just a moment because it's this passage that the Holy Spirit showed me (and brought to remembrance Pastor Chuck Smith's statement), and then take a look at what the Bible has to say about discipleship, which is now my primary direction in ministry.

Christ has called us all to join in making disciples, people to be followers of Jesus Christ. This is a call upon each and every Christian's life. This is not a program but a lifestyle of love, truth and abandonment to God. We are to make disciples not converts. Yes, we need to go and share the Gospel and allow God to save people, but we can not stop there. We must disciple them, teach them the Bible, model for them the way God calls us to live, and help them to grow (which also this means that you cannot make disciples unless you are a disciple yourself).

This can be done through a one to one discipleship, and when one disciples another, then both of them can continue and disciple others, this is how disciples are multiplied. I'm still learning and growing in how to put into practice Biblical discipleship, building authentic relationships and helping others follow Jesus one discussion, one conversation, one heart-to-heart talk at a time. The Hebrew and Greek words for disciple primarily mean being a learner, and not just a follower. In the context and the use of the word disciple, a man would attach himself to a teacher, listen to him, and walk with him.

Oswald Chambers in 'My Utmost for His Highest' says,
"Our work is not to save souls, but to disciple them. Salvation and sanctification are the work of God’s sovereign grace, and our work as His disciples is to disciple others’ lives until they are totally yielded to God. One life totally devoted to God is of more value to Him than one hundred lives which have been simply awakened by His Spirit.
As workers for God, we must reproduce our own kind spiritually, and those lives will be God’s testimony to us as His workers. God brings us up to a standard of life through His grace, and we are responsible for reproducing that same standard in others."

A Christin disciple is a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, but discipleship means a personal, passionate devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the best example of how to disciple, because He met people where they were at, and in love directed them into a deeper relationship with Himself. We must keep looking to Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our faith, and to the Bible for His examples. Discipleship is the coming alongside of another brother or sister in the faith and helping them grow stronger.

This means that there needs to be lot of time invested in each relationship and dedication, and this is foundational for discipleship. This is exactly what Jesus Christ modeled with His own disciples. In my heart I feel a strong calling in this direction and will need help, but with the example of Christ in the Gospels, and by His grace I hope to grow. As disciples of Jesus we must grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and be equipped by the Holy Spirit, who helps us become more and more like Christ.

However this requires us to examine our thoughts, words, and deeds by comparing them with the Bible. As a disciple of Jesus we must be in the Bible daily, and daily studying it, daily praying over it, and daily obeying it. As a disciple we must be equipped and have ongoing spiritual growth and transformation through learning God's Word, and be equipped to live like Christ. Let's now take a look at discipleship according to the Bible.

Mark 8:34-35, says:
"Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it."
This means that we must have Jesus first in all things, and our focus should be on our Lord and pleasing Him in every area of our live. Jesus is laying out the terms for discipleship here and they are not easy. It is important we all count the cost of discipleship. Our life must be centered in God and cannot be centered in our self. We must submit to God, and deny our self and take up our cross daily (and our pride will try to stop us).

John 8:31-32, says:
"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
This means that we must be obedient children and doers of the Word. Remember that obedience is better than sacrifice. Jesus wants us to believe on Him, and to continue in His Word, and if we do the truth of His Word it will set us free and then we are really His disciples.

John 15:5-8, says:
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."
This means that our job is to abide in Christ, and allow the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit in our lives through our obedience. Training as a disciple of Jesus requires disciple on our part, and also for new disciples. I have tried to do so many things on my own and failed, and I have realized that apart from Jesus I can do nothing, however through Christ who strengthens me I can do all things.

John 13:34-35, says:
"Love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
This means that we are told to love other believers by not merely our thoughts towards them but by our actions. By this people will know we are a disciple of Jesus Christ. The love of Jesus for us was a self-sacrificing love because He loves us, and that's the kind of love we're to have.

Matthew 28:19, says:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
This means that we are to share our faith and tell nonbelievers about Jesus Christ, and as His representatives participate in making disciples. Jesus said to us that He will be with us as we go to proclaim God's love to a needy world. Let's go.

Now that we have looked at what the Bible has to say about discipleship, this will be the primary direction of my ministry, which will still include evangelism but in a proper balance. Remember that our Lord has commanded us to make disciples, not converts. God calls us into discipleship, but evangelism and discipleship working hand in hand, there is a balance between them.

I feel that I must be focused and committed to both reaching the lost and leading them to obey Christ. I believe that this 'balance' is the key if we are to be more like Christ, and I will not be focused on evangelism at the expense of discipleship. May we become more like Christ through allowing Him to equip us through His Word, and allow our focus to be on the multiplication of disciples rather than the addition of followers.

The world today is in a mad pursuit for happiness, but there's a vast difference between joy and happiness. Many will look like they have joy, but it's only surface deep, it never becomes a well of living water springing up within them. You see happiness is an experience of the emotions, where true joy is an experience of the Spirit. The Lord doesn't promise us happiness, but He does promises abiding joy. And the Lord wants your joy to be full (1 John 1:4).

Joy and Gladness in the Greek is 'chara' which means: the joy received from you, or also the cause or occasion of joy (including persons who are one's joy).

Luke 15:7

"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

The natural response to finding that which is lost is rejoicing, and as I witness with the Gospel for Chico team, High School students from our Church, and other ambassadors in the ministry of the gospel, I have met people who passionately glorify God in their evangelistic efforts. This in return fuels a desire in me to not only join them in the effort, but to also encourage and equip others to serve Christ through evangelism.

There are a growing number of Christians who share their faith on a regular basis. However, I know that there can and should be more. My burden is for more to rise up and echo the call of the Great Commission by consistently sharing their faith, and their joy to be full.

Luke 15:10

"Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

If your not sharing the Gospel your missing out on the best joy you can in rejoicing with all of Heaven. God can be so glorified in and through you when you are obedient to proclaim the Gospel. Just ask Him to give you spiritual eyes to see and spiritual ears to hear the lost, hell-bound people all around you.

It was the “Prince of Preachers,” Charles Spurgeon, who said these sobering words: “Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself. Be sure of that.” A Christian cannot be unconcerned about the salvation of the lost.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, and the characteristic of love is joy. Witnessing should be a way of life, for every Christian. It is something you do if you are truly born again. It is like breathing air. You shouldn’t even have to think about it. Witnessing is part of who you are in Christ.

Your passion should be to make Him known. In doing so, you will try to reach the lost with the Gospel by whatever means necessary, regardless of the season of life in which you find yourself.

Matthew 25:21

"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

I was so encouraged when I watched this video about Deborah Drapper a homeschooled (14 year old) Christian girl who is unlike most teenagers. She loves to share her faith. She has a clear understanding that time is short here on earth and that eternity is forever.

I hope that 6 minute video brought you some joy. Ray Comfort said "Do you ever share your faith and see little or no fruit for your labors? You long to see at least one person come to Christ. If it hasn't yet happened, don't let discouragement quench your zeal... The Bible promises that they that sow in tears shall reap in joy (Psalm 126:5).

If you don't reap from your labors in this life, you will certainly reap in the next. John Wesley said to his preachers, "You have nothing to do but to win souls; therefore spend and be spent in this work." Spend your time planting the seed of the Word of God in the hearts of men and women, and God will bring fruit in His time."

May He burden your heart for the lost. See that the harvest is plentiful but the labors are few (Matthew 9:36-38)!

In the Hebrew language the word worship is 'shachah' which means: to bow down, to prostrate oneself, or to be before God in worship.

Genesis 22:5

And Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you."

Abraham is saying that his son Isaac and him are going to go worship and then are going to come back. He's declaring that Isaac is going to come again with him. Isaac's coming back. Confidence in the promise of God that through Isaac shall his seed be called. This is the first mention the word worship in the Bible and it is connected to a sacrifice. I've heard it well said before that 'we were created to worship'. How true is that statement, because we either worship the true and living God, or an idol (which could even be yourself as your own god).

Charles Spurgeon said, "To be a soul winner is the happiest thing in this world." While we can obtain pleasure from reading the Bible, from fellowship with other Christians, and from worship, seeking the lost (and doing it biblically) gives the Christian a unique satisfaction.

Exodus 34:14

"For you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God"

How do you worship God? Do you remember that Jesus says in John 4:24, "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." God has specified in the Bible the acceptable way He is to be worshiped. He is not to be worshiped according to the evil and vain imaginations and devices of men. Whatever that is not commanded in scripture in our worship to God is forbidden if we are to worship God in truth. Many people never stop to ask, is it scriptural and is this what God wants? They believe that just any kind of worship they give will be acceptable to God.

Did you know that when we remove words like sin, repentance, judgment, and Hell from our message, we are in danger of preaching "another Gospel" (Gal 1:7-8). If it’s not the whole truth, it’s no longer the truth at all. It becomes illegitimate and produces illegitimate children (Hebrews 12:8), who call God their father, but still serve the devil.

The great key to making sure that we are never guilty of this is to say with Paul, "In the sight of God we speak in Christ" (2 Cor. 2:17). In other words, the words we speak are never dictated by a fear of offending sinners on earth. Instead, they are dictated by the fear of offending a holy God in Heaven.

“Why does the Church stay indoors? They have a theology that has dwindled into a philosophy, in which there is no thrill of faith, no terror of doom, and no concern for souls. Unbelief has put out the fires of passion, and worldliness garlands the altar of sacrifice with the tawdry glitter of unreality.” SAMUEL CHADWICK

Nothing compromises truth like seeking the approval of men. And nothing ensures the truth like seeking the approval of Almighty God.

We know commonly an evangelist (Greek = euaggelistēs) as someone who is a witness for Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-12 says, "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ"

In this passage we see that an evangelist is someone who equips the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. So what is the Biblical definition of an evangelist? Strong's Concordance says that an evangelist is someone who brings the good news of Jesus Christ, and heralds salvation through Jesus Christ. But we just read that an evangelist is someone who equips the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. So what are we missing?

Evangelism is for ALL Believers because we are ALL called to witness, it's either obedience or disobedience on our part. "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching... do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry" (2 Timothy 4:2-5).

To get your feet wet in witnessing, an easy first step is learning to be friendly and talking with people. This may seem obvious, but make a habit of talking to your family members and friends regularly. Then practice being friendly with people at the park, at the gas station, or at the grocery store. If you tend to be a shy, introverted person, try to regularly open up a little and start talking with people.

A simple "Hi, how are you?" isn't difficult. Or say, "Nice day, isn't it? My name is so and so ... " With a bit of practice, anyone can learn to be friendly. Most people respond warmly to warmth. Then kick it up a notch by handing out some ice breakers (gospel tracts are for people not places). Then ask someone if they've had a Christian background. You can do it. God will help you.

God has saved multitudes through ice breakers (gospel tracts are for people not places), so always carry them with you, and take a moment to encourage other Christians to do the same. Let them know that Christian literature can be used as a conversation opener. One of the most difficult things about witnessing is starting up a conversation about God.

An ice breaker (gospel tracts are for people not places) can do that for you. It can be left with the person you have spoken to, so that he or she can read further about the way of salvation. Tracts can be given to people when it's not convenient to speak to them. Simply say, "Did you get one of these?"

Whatever you do, never let a day go by when you don't do something to reach the lost while you still can.

George MacLeod was a great preacher who, hundreds of years ago, faithfully obeyed the Great Commission. He exalted Jesus Christ in his preaching and wasn't afraid to preach the blood of the cross.

He said, "I simply argue that the cross should be raised at the center of the marketplace as well as on the steeple of the church. I am recovering the claim that Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral between two candles, but on a cross between two thieves; on the town's garbage heap; at a crossroad, so cosmopolitan they had to write His title in Hebrew and Latin and Greek ... at the kind of a place where cynics talk smut, and thieves curse, and soldiers gamble. Because that is where He died. And that is what He died for. And that is what He died about. That is where church-men ought to be and what church-men ought to be about."

"My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body." James 3:1-2

Teaching the Word of God is an awesome and great responsibility, this is because when we stand to teach God's Word, than we should be teaching the Word of God correctly. For if we do not teach the Word of God correctly, then we are leading people astray, and we will have to bear this responsibility. This is why it is a heavy obligation to be a teacher of God's Word, and not to be taken lightly because teachers of God's Word have to give an account before God of how straight forward they were in handling His Word.

So this past month I had been doing a lot of praying about teaching and seeking the Lord on His time table. Well, when you pray you gotta be careful what you pray for. Recently I had these several opportunities:

Got to teach at PV High School on Luke 16:19-31 (No Crossing Over)

"...Between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us." v26

Got to do an outreach with the students on PV High School

Got to teach at Chico High School on Matthew 19:16-26 (Jesus Witness to the Rich Young Ruler)

"...No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." v17

"...With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." v26

Got to teach at a Churches High School Art Show on Romans 12:1-21 (Spiritual Gifts for Christians)

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." v1-2

Recently I also completed my course work with the School Dimensions of the Faith at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary online, and enjoyed learning more about theology, and missions, and evangelism. A phrase that Chuck Smith often says is: "Simply Teaching the Bible Simply", which should be the aim of every Bible teacher. Remember a teacher is one who teaches concerning the things of God, and His Holy Word and in an every increasing world of false teachers who claim to be Christians. This greater accountability of teachers is especially sobering in light of our common weaknesses, however the demonstration of a living faith is in controlling what we say, and how we say it.

"... For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:48

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Here we can see the purposes of teaching through the Bible:

That we might have the correct systematic understanding of God, Jesus the Messiah, the Holy Spirit, man, sin, the plan of redemption, the hope of our heavenly future.
That we might know how God would have us to live. To reprove us when we go astray from His straight path.
To correct us when we are wrong, or do wrong.
To instruct us in the right way to live. How to live so that our lives might be pleasing to God, and that we might live in fellowship with Him.
That we might come into a spiritual maturity.
That we might become thoroughly furnished for every good work.
That we might become equipped to be all that God would have us to be.
The Word of God in our hearts will give us power over sin. "Thy Word, have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee."

I want to encourage and challenge you to make sure that your life is lined up with the Bible. People are going to see how real Christians live. God will use that to intrigue people’s hearts with the truths of His Word. Soak your mind with the Word of God, obey what it says, and proclaim it from the rooftops everywhere that you go!

Wow March went right on by, where does all the time go? This past month we got to visit our local High Schools during a program called 'Every 15 Minutes' where the idea of of the program is to use drama and fear to show teens the potentially lethal consequences of drinking and driving. We were able to meet pass out hundreds of Gospel tracts from the sidewalk at both schools. The goal of the "Every 15 minutes" program is to challenge students to not drink and drive. However we got to hand out Gospel tracts and declare what is going to happen to them on the other side if they are not right with Jesus Christ. If there was ever a time to declare to the youth of this generation about God it is now.

On the campus they have a mock funeral service and also there is a student who pretends to be the "Grim Reaper" tagging people and also there is a staged car accident on campus. There is a statistic that none of us can beat and that is that 10 out of 10 people die.We were able to meet pass out hundreds of Gospel tracts from the sidewalk at both schools. The kids were able to watch a dramatization of what happens as police, firefighters, medics and a funeral home respond to a two-vehicle head-on collision, with even a chaplain assisting as they give the parents a fake death certificate of their child. The students watched as the 'dead' person was zipped into a body bag and placed in a hearse for the trip to the mortuary.

We were able to pass out over 400 Gospel tracts in the 2 days during what was most of our lunch breaks, and had a blast. At Chico High School one girl was waiting for her friends to catch up and so we were able to talk and I had asked her if she knew the Lord. She said kind of, which is an interesting answer. I then asked her if she was 'Born-Again', to which she responded that she did not. She told me that she had tried to read the Bible once but it didn't make sense to her.

I was able to talk to her about sin and how unless we see our sin for what it is we will never see our need for a savior. I got to plant a seed that day and also encouraged her to read the Gospel of John, which was written that we would know God. It was a great time and we continue to pray for the High School kids. Also in March I got to go downtown on St. Patrick's day, where I went with a good friend to hand out tracts and to get into conversations with people on the street. It was an exciting time, and we were able to pass out over 200 Gospel tracts within an hour. The spiritual darkness there was unbelievable. So many people hurting who where trying to drink away their problems. However there were also people who were looking for truth, and stopped to read the tract. When there is great darkness it can become very easy for a believer’s light to shine very brightly.

I got to talk to a man who wanted to talk, and he even stopped and then put down his things to see what we were about. He was wanting to know what proof we had for Christianity, and had a lot of very in-depth questions about God. He hadn't really thought about the eternal side of life, but did get a degree studying the world religions. About halfway through the conversation, he told me that was "born-again" once but now considered it all to be rubbish.

I then asked him if he had repented and trusted in Jesus, but immediately he told me that he didn't understand why Jesus was the only way. I was able to explain to him that the Bible speaks of false conversion, in which many receive the Word with joy and gladness, but when tribulation, temptation, and persecution comes that they then fall away.

I was able to take him through a few of Ten Commandments, and then into the message of the cross, and the necessity of repentance and faith in the Savior. We had a great conversation and I was even able to leave him with a Why Christianity? Gospel tract which he said he would read, as he loves to read. I didn't want to end things on an awkward note, so I shook his hand and thanked him once again for talking to me.

From there we went toward more of the bar section of downtown and got into a conversation with another guy who considered himself to be spiritual but not religious. So we started talking and asked him a few questions, and even when through a few of the Ten Commandments as well. He had admitted to lying, stealing, and looking with lust. That's when the conversation got strange.

You see he had told us that he didn't lust after women but after men, and that the desires that were within him were completely normal. In fact he even told us that he embraced his flaws which he considered sin. I didn't want to loose this guys so I brought up civil court, and that this excuse would not work on Judgment Day. It is human nature to try, but it doesn’t work with God.

I was able to tell him that it is natural for all of us to desire sin and to be tempted to do things that God says are wrong. From there we talked about absolute truth vs. relative truth, and after asking him if what Hitler did was wrong he agreed that there must be some absolute truth. However, he didn't want to talk much further or take a tract from us. We still thanked him for his time and shook his hand before we left.

We were downtown again to the Saturday morning farmers market, and we were able to pass out a hundreds of tracts and had some very interesting conversations. I had a lady walk by and just grab a tract right out of my hand, and as she did so she said "I''ll take one", and she did. There are so many people searching for answers and for truth in this life. We must not fail to tell this world about Jesus and we must do everything we can to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We know that approximately 150,000 people will die today, and our hearts break for those who will slip form this life into an eternity of torment in Hell because they died in their sins. More importantly, we are consumed with concern for those sill on earth who have not yet trusted in Christ for their salvation. So together we must do all that we can to reach the lost. We must practice sharing our faith in order to become good at it, so why not start today?

It just continues to amaze me that when we go out with a mind and heart open to reaching the lost, God places people right in front of us with open hearts of their own. I was blessed this month and able to still go downtown to the market again with my wife, even though it was raining we still went. We got into several very interesting conversations in pouring rain (an agnostic, an atheist, and a mormon too). God has showed us that we can't use the weather as an excuse not to witness, because God's got great timing.

Even though it has been raining most of this month it is still a great time it is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Here are two ways you share the Gospel without even going out to witness.

God continues to show us little ways on how He is weaving us into planting and watering those Gospel seeds, and we always get excited as we pray for opportunities to share our faith. God is so faithful, and we are planting seeds everywhere we go and loving it. The local farmers market is a great place to go fishing and we have passed out hundreds of Gospel tracts every time. Sometimes you meet Christians who don't think handing out tracts is effective, and tell you and me that this kind of witnessing doesn't work. But it does!

Joey Hancock of the American Tract Society said, "Fifty-three percent of all who come to Christ worldwide come through the use of printed gospel literature."

Billy Graham said of Gospel tracts: "Nothing surpasses a tract for sowing the seed of the Good News."

Charles Spurgeon said, "When preaching and private tale are not available, you need to have a tract ready...get good striking tracts, or none at all. But a touching gospel tract may be the seed of eternal life. Therefore, do not go out without your tracts."

Dr. Oswald J. Smith said, "The only way to carry out the Great Commission will be by the means of the printed page."

My wife and I have seen many people impacted by good striking tracts. It has been said that nothing cost less, goes farther, lasts longer or says it better than a gospel tract. Regardless of your spiritual maturity or experience in sharing the gospel, a tract is an indispensable helper. If you don’t have the opportunity to speak with someone about the Lord, a well-written tract can do the speaking for you. A tract may not be as good as a personal conversation, but a sincere gospel tract is better than no gospel at all.

Never underestimate the power of a gospel tract. After George Whitefield read one called “The Life of God in the Soul of a Man,” he said, “God showed me I must be born again or be damned.” He went on to pray, “Lord, if I am not a Christian, or if I am not a real one, for Jesus Christ’s sake show me what Christianity is, that I may not be damned at last!” Then his journal tells us “from that moment... did I know that I must become a new creature.”

If, in Spurgeon’s words, you feel you “have but little power and little ability, but nevertheless, wish to do something for Christ,” then begin today to give out tracts. Part of our fear is a fear of rejection. We are fearful of looking foolish. That’s a subtle form of pride. The other part of our battle with fear comes directly from the enemy. He knows that fear paralyzes. We must resist the devil and his lies.

If God is with us, nothing can be against us. If you have never given out tracts, why not begin today? If you are fearful when it comes to witnessing, here’s something you can do that doesn’t take much courage. Any person can do it. Do something for the kingdom of God while you are able to. So go out there and do something, do something, do something.

Wow! 2010 has started like a flash and began with a short term missions trip to Juarez, Mexico. Juarez has been labeled the deadliest city in the world right now with an average of 10 murders a day, most of which are related to drug trafficking and cartels. The record in 2009 was 3 days without any homicides. While we were there, my wife saw a headline on a local paper that read (roughly translated): “A major incident: 93 murders in 9 days”. Many children are left on the street, whether orphaned or left to fend for themselves as their parents leave their homes at 5 AM to cross the boarder for work in factories in El Paso, Texas. So if there was anywhere that needed to hear the hope and good news of Jesus Christ, it is Juarez.

So we left for the Sacramento airport to meet about 25 other people from our church to head down to Juarez. Our mission was to assist in an Operation Christmas Child shoe box distribution (an outreach of Samaritan's Purse). Each year shoe boxes are filled with toys, candy, hygiene items and small clothing items (mittens, scarves, etc.) and shipped around the world to children in poor villages. Once the shoe boxes arrive, volunteers help to distribute the shoe boxes as well as hand out booklets to the children, written in their own language, telling them about the Good News of Jesus Christ. That's where we got to step in.

At the airport, I got to pass out several tracts to people at both ends of the terminals. One lady's son ran up to me asking for more, and another lady said no to an offer of a tract, but after watching people take one, she asked for one later. I even got to hand a tract to a TSA person walking by who said thanks, and also extended one to a cashier near our gate and he was so excited about it. After traveling all day Thursday and crossing the boarder into Mexico, we finally arrived at the missions base in Juarez. Oh and we event got to pass out tracts through the van windows to those selling items across the border in the road ways.

Now every time you try to do something great in the name of the Lord, the enemy will try to thwart your plans. And that is exactly what happened. I'm so thankful we serve a Mighty God. We got word that due to the extreme cold and the possibility of snow, all the local schools had canceled school for the day on Friday. So that night, back at the base, during our devotion time, we prayed for the first miracle of the trip. We prayed that the children would still find a way to get to the gym to hear about Jesus and receive the shoe box gifts. When we woke in the morning it was still quite very cold but no snow. Slowly the gym started to fill until it was about half full. We were so excited to see how the Lord had answered our prayers. It was such a joy to see so many kids and parents overwhelmed with joy and thankfulness.

I have to tell you, if you really pray something and really mean it, the Lord will answer your prayer in abundance.

It was amazing to see how God orchestrates things. The children made it to the gym, our team was working together amazingly well despite the bitter cold, the children were excited to hear about Jesus and to get their gifts and prayers were being answered all over the place. We did two separate distributions on Friday and by the end of the day, our team was tired but quite fulfilled. Before we headed back to the base, we made a quick stop at a local strip mall. Before we left for our trip, we had been told that there would be opportunities for ministry out in the community. So my wife and I came prepared with Gospel tracts in Spanish. So while at the mall we walked around in big groups handing out the tracts that read “Eres una persona buena?” (Are you a good person?) The response was great and we had a blast.

Sunday brought us another fun filled day. Sunday afternoon our team piled back in our bus and headed for the city plaza in downtown Juarez for a community outreach. We had been given some Spanish gospel tracts, invitations to the Amigo Fiel church and New Testament bibles in Spanish. Of course, I had some of my own Spanish gospel tracts as well. I even found a bag of gospel tracts from livingwaters.com left on a bench there. I knew that it was the Lord affirming that we were certainly supposed to be there to reach the people. A man who was fairly fluent in English came up to talk with me. He had a catholic background but didn't know if he was saved. I went through the court room, and air-plane illustrations with him, and told him he needed to repent and trust in Jesus. After praying for the man, I left him with a tract. We could tell by the look in his eyes that it was a divine appointment.

At one point a few people from our group, my Wife and I included, found ourselves surrounded by a group of young men (late teens to early twenties) asking to be prayed for. They said they were Christians and by the worn-out bibles each of them clung to, we believed them. They wanted to be stronger in their faith and to reach out to those around them that they loved. We agreed to pray for them and soon they were praying, two or three of them at a time. It was an amazing day.

The next morning seemed to come too quickly as we all dreaded having to leave such close fellowship and return to the "real world" of jobs and bills and commitments. We left with a piece of Juarez and a compassion for the lost like never before. The day we left Mexico was one of mixed and heartfelt emotions. There was still so much still to be done and so many souls still to be won. I was able to leave a few more tracts behind and even got to give one out to the boarder patrol man who viewed each of our passports. We got to give a tract to the people next to us on the plane too on both flights home. It was an overwhelming time and an awesome experience growing closer with the Lord. I was able to talk to a serviceman on the way home named "Woods" at the airport and thanked him for his service to our country. He stood up and immediately gave me a one handed man hug thanking him for being thankful for what he had been doing. I gave him a gift of a book called "One Heartbeat Away" by Mark Cahill. As we turned around to leave for the flight, he was reading the book.

I got to leave several more tracts at the airport before we drove home, and since being back home I've passed out more tracts since. There was no reason that the missions trip had to end. We just moved to a new location as we came back home to family, friends and co-workers who don't yet know the Lord. And after you have read this I hope you feel encouraged and challenged as well. Please prayerfully consider the platform Jesus has given you in your life where you can let your light shine brightly for Him.

It seems to me that there are two ways that the enemy likes to attack us. One way is by loading us down with the pleasures of this world that we forget God, the other is to make us so down and out that we become bitter and angry with God. However the second attack actually leads more people to Jesus, because once someone has a humble heart they are ready for the Gospel. Whereas the first attack cause people to become prideful and deceived by telling themselves that they are in need of nothing, including God (this is where the Law and addressing their conscience can help). As this world is falling apart, I thank God that our heart still hears the call, and that God helps us give up our pride.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for us while we were in Juarez. Now I pray that you will join us and watch God grow your faith too as you reach the lost. Everyday is a missions trip, are you ready?

Christmas comes once again. It is one of the most wonderful times of the year. Friends and family get together. Good food is cooked, and lights and Christmas trees go up. And many wonderful Christmas songs are sung.

As we Celebrate Christmas we see the manger scenes and their presence makes us think about God's Son. Jesus’ birth was the miraculous birth that changed the world, and because of that birth 2000 years ago, this world can never be the same ever again.

Here are some easy questions to ask people. What does Christmas mean to you? Do you have a church background? Do you know Jesus? You will find His beautiful description on the pages of the Bible. My Christmas wish is this Christmas season you would really Celebrate Christmas.

It would be a great idea this Christmas season to open up the Bible and read about Jesus. What should you read? I suggest starting in the book named "John," and then read the one named "Romans." Whatever you decide to read, make sure you read it. God will never let you down.

This month I got the chance to hand out Gospel Tracts at our local Toy Run with hundreds of Motorcyclists. There were about 500 bikers gathered in the parking lot with toys the annual toy run. While they were waiting for the start of the run, most of the motorcyclists walked around checking out each others bikes and telling many stories.

Many of the motorcycles were parked in a long line across the parking lot and most were either in line for refreshments, in line for the restroom, or in line with their bike for the toy run. So it became easy to go from person to person handing them a Gospel tract, and talk to them.

I got to hand out about 50 DVDs of "The Big Question" and about 200 of "Are You a Good Person?" Gospel Tracts. God gave me the boldness to leave my lukewarmness and comfort zone in my car and step right into His zone. What a day, I thank God that He gave me the privilege to be there and talk with so many people who desperately need to hear the truth.

One man after I asked him what happens when people die, told me he's for sure gonna be riding on his Harley in the clouds with his friends. Another told me that he would be in Hell partying it up with his friends, even after I had told him it didn't have to be that way, he said that Hell didn't concern him. These are the wrong answers lost people will tell you, but you have the right answer, Jesus.

There were several small conversations with people, but I really enjoyed how God let me end the day. I was given a great big huge from a guy there with crosses on his leather from Calvary Chapel Paradise, who thanked me for being out there and for sharing the Good News with people.

Even the two men at the event who where dressed up as santa claus in the front of the pack received tracts. Someone even took a photo of me handing santa a tract. I'll be honest, I was really scared, and so full of fear walking up to them and wanted to give up several times, but kept going. I thank God for allowing me to be there and to strengthen me to be bold in the midst of leather wearing bikers.

I didn't care that some were smoking, chewing, or even rolling their own cigs, but only cared about their eternity. And to think I was just going to stay at home because I didn't feel like going downtown because it was cold. What a lame excuse that was, but thankfully I repented. We shall see one day what the Lord does with the seeds planted. Be bold for the Lord because people are listening.

I want to challenge you if you are not already sharing your faith in Jesus Christ to start to. Make sure this is the Christmas season that you share your faith with the lost. If you want to but just don't please check out the many Online Resources that will help you, and may you be encouraged. Also the malls are full of lost people who love to buy gifts, so just go ahead and be bold to tell them about the greatest Gift ever!

November was a very interesting month for me, and allowed me to submit to God in all areas of my life declaring him as the Leader. I had the privilege to lead an 8-week Bible study on evangelism at my church and use the Way of the Master basic training videos to show some real one-to-one witnessing. It was such a great time to grow closer to the Lord even in the midst of my constant fear of public speaking.

Matthew 9:37-38 says "Then said he to his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest." And I was so blessed to be able to see God raise up some more workers for His kingdom and see them pass out tracts, and get into some really good conversations with strangers. It was the 'Prince of Preachers', Charles Spurgeon, who said the words, "Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself. Be sure of that."

Did you know that an evangelist is any Christian who explains his or her beliefs to a non-Christian and thereby participates in Evangelism? This is someone who preaches the Gospel, who is spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 4:5 says "But watch in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry." So, this is the name given to all believers who herald the message of salvation through Christ.

After America celebrated Thanksgiving (for the Christian, every day should be a day of thanksgiving) my Dad and Stepmother stayed an extra week and I got to hand out tracts with them at the Saturday morning market. I was so blessed to be with my Dad and I had a great time as we passed out Gospel tracts to strangers. We all went for a walk too and I got to give a pocket Bible to a lady who is going through a divorce, and my wife and stepmother both got to pray for her also. Please take the time to pray with people, it means to so much to them.

At the Saturday morning market I got to pass out about 200 Gospel tracts, and take some new believers out to witness. I got to encourage a few guys who stated they were believers, and even got to pray for a girl who was fighting her way through cancer. Remember that you have the sobering responsibility of speaking to other peoples' loved ones. Luke 6:46 says "And why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" The love of God in us will motivate us to seek and save that which is lost.

I got to help out with a project called "Origin in to Schools" on the University campus.We passed out one-thousand books of Darwin's "Origin of Species" with a special introduction on Intelligent Design and the Gospel.On that day also hundreds of pocket Bibles were passed out thanks to the Gideons being on campus too and we got to hand out about a thousand Gospel tracts also. A small group of us went downtown to do some more witnessing at lunch time.

I had several great conversations, but I think my most interesting one was with a displaced individual who was a believer. He wanted some Gospel tracts to give out to others, and since then I've run into him three other times, and been able to give him hundreds of Gospel tracts. I got to witness him pass them out to each vendor at the Saturday morning market one booth owner at a time.We should even be thankful in the midst of problems. The Apostle Paul said, "Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation." (2 Corinthians 7:4). He knew that God was working all things together for his good, even though he was going through trials (Romans 8:28).

Please remember that there is no task more important than to be entrusted with the Gospel of Salvation and to be working with God for the eternal well-being of dying humanity. It was Charles Finney the minister who became an important figure in the Second Great Awakening who said "If you do not make it a matter of study, how you may successfully act in building up the kingdom of Christ, you are acting a very wicked and absurd part as a Christian."

This month was a time of depending on the Lord and being very thankful. When I got to take my dog to the local groomer I was able to give the lady a Pocket Testament Gospel of John and a generous tip. Even in the ordinary everyday things of life there are people who need the Gospel and there are so many opportunities in front of us.

If you are not growing in your relationship with God, and need more fuel then I want to encourage you to start witnessing and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When you share your faith in Jesus Christ, by witnessing it will do the following: Drive you to the Bible, Drive you to Prayer, and Drive you away from Sin. Halloween was another opportunity for us as we gave out tracts with candy as kids came to our door.

Remember that when you witness, you can trust the Holy Spirit to do the following: Illuminate the mind of unbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:3-4), Pierce the heart of unbelievers (Acts 2:37), and Move the direction of unbelievers (Luke 15:18). Don't let the gospel that you preach be molded by what gets an immediate response.

Preach the whole gospel, trying to persuade and plead for people to believe, but know that you cannot convert a person. And then let God do with it what he will. He alone can call the dead to life. The gospel is powerful, and God is committed to using us to spread this good news.

I was blessed by going to our Saturday morning farmers market and gave out about 200 tracts one week, and then about the same amount again the next week. I met up with some friends and some people helping them to step outside of their comfort zone. We were asked to move outside the market area due to no leafleting inside the conned off area. Without wanting to get into a huge disagreement we complied and the Lord blessed that.

A lady with 3 dogs needing adoption came beside us and gathered more people than we could hand out tracts to. The next week a man dressed as a clown brought dozens of kids next to us also. Remember that evangelism itself isn't converting people. It is simply telling the message of the good news of Jesus Christ. We don't hope to evangelize. We do it, knowing that God is glorified in it. God commands everyone who believes in Christ to preach the gospel. It is not a guilt-driven burden, but a joyful privilege.

During one of my lunch breaks I went to our downtown plaza and had a great conversation with a stranger. The guy had some strange concepts about the afterlife but said he was a believer in Jesus. I got to encourage him to read His Bible and left him with a "Why Christianity" tract. Even though this man had no job and no place to stay he was thankful that he had his truck to sleep in.

Wow, how many times have I been thankful for God meeting my needs? As a spiritual person your family no doubt will be looking to you. You now have an opportunity to pray for the meals, and talk about how thankful you are that God saved you. Anywhere people congregate is a great place to reach the lost. Practice, Practice, Practice. Cary tracts with you where ever you go.

My wife and I went to Albuquerque in New Mexico for a week due to my work having a conference there. However we got to meet up with some brothers and sisters at a Calvary Chapel there who were going through the Way of the Master training class. We were both strengthened and blessed. After the conference we stayed a few extra nights, and did some witnessing.

One night I had felt I had not done enough witnessing and couldn't sleep. We had brought 500 tracts called "Why Christianity?", so I slid a Gospel tract under every single door in that three story hotel building. Near the end a lady on staff told me that there was no soliciting and my heart nearly stopped. I must have looked like a deer in the headlights, but she was only joking and told me it was okay to leave tracts for people.

We had several great conversations in the airport and on the plane using the plane and law of gravity analogy telling people to choose the "parachute". We handed out tracts to people waiting to board the planes and know that the Holy Spirit will do the rest. Remember that Acts 5:32 shows us that we are working with the Holy Spirit being obedient to the command of God. So if we do not witness in the power of the Holy Spirit, then our efforts are in vain and will be ineffective.

Wow, I had an amazing and by far one of the most interesting times in witnessing. As many of you know I went to the Laxson Auditorium to hand out Gospel tracts at the Deepak Chopra event.

I got to talk to a lady who lives in town and we had a very nice conversation about our houses and why we were there at the event. She told me she was there with her church called "Chico New Thought Center for Spiritual Living" that meets at the Lakeside Pavilion. She told me her lady minister invited her whole congregation to come and then asked me what church I went to.

I told her, and she told me she used to go there back when it meet at a different location before she left Chico. Once she came back to Chico she moved to another church. She told me that she believed that there is more than one way to God and to Heaven. I politely asked her "what do you think about Jesus?", and at that point she ended our conversation and left looking for her lady minister and church friends.

The reason Jesus is the only way is because Jesus declared it. John 14:6 says "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me."

Once the auditorium doors opened I got to hand out the tracts left and right, and as I was passing them out to people I said to them "Enjoy the show". I even got to give out what time it was, direct people to the water fountains and to the restrooms. Suddenly a man from inside came up to me and asked me what I was handing out. I told him "the Truth about how God loves people".

Colossians 4:5 says "Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time."

He then asked me what organization I was with, so I said the first thing that came to mind "Jesus". At once he threatened me that I needed to leave or else he would call the police. I have to be honest, I told him to go ahead and do that. He left and then minutes later came back out and informed me that I can hand them out on the sidewalk but not on University property unless I have an approved permit.

So I politely apologized and said I didn't know and then moved down to the sidewalk. Colossians 4:6 says "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man."

I got to pass more tracts down there on the sidewalk, where it became a better location since most people already went in. A lady approached me asking what time is was, and we got to talk awhile. She was waiting for her son who works at Enloe Medical Center who was running late.

Suddenly a huge man (about my height) came up to me and started to verbally assault me and said to me "You are spreading lies, and are going straight to hell". (It was great to know that he believed in hell at least.) I told him that I'm not against Deepak Chopra and I want to see him saved and come to Jesus. He then continued to hurl insults at me and loudly. I told him that he has a right to believe what he believes and then he gave me back the tract and left.

Just then as I was feeling that I should give up and I was so discouraged, two people were walking by and very intrigued by what I was handing out. The guy and girl read it and then came back up to me. They both said "Everything in this is right on" and "the Scriptures you used are True". Isn't that great to know that there are people who are seeking Truth, and we get to tell them.

The two were Christians asked me what church I went to and I told them. They were looking for a church that is "Bold for Jesus" and "not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ". The lady who before was asking me what time it was then asked me what it was that I had handed her and told her "the Truth about God's love for people." She said she would read it and enjoyed talking to me and thanked me for talking to her and helping her as she waited.

Galatians 2:20 says "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Overall I got to hand out 345 tracts, was threatened "with calling the police", verbally assaulted, thanked, encouraged, and had a very blessed night. Please pray for the lady I talked with and her misguided church, pray for the lady who asked me what time it was and for her son, and please pray for everyone who received a tract and all of those people at the event. Thank you for your prayers and support.

I went with my church down to the Jesus Center (they offer hospitably in the name of Jesus) again. This is such an awesome ministry because the Jesus Center is a place where people can come and get food and clothes and God's Word. I had such a blast and was able to share with 4 people, 1 who I had talked with before a previous time.

Awhile back when I got to talk to some Spanish speaking guys talking about Michael Jackson's death and they wanted to know how he died. I got to one of the men a book in Spanish called "One Heart Beat Away" by Mark Cahill. It's a great book talking about how to prove there is a God, evolution and why it can be disproven, proves the Bible true, and deals with the question of "What is out there after we die?"

I also got to talk to a guy who had been in prison for six years and had only been out for three days. I was able to share with him how we have all fallen short and sinned before God, and can be redeemed. He told me that Christianity was forced on him as a kid and that now he is just living life for today. I was having a great time talking to him, when we got interrupted but another guy.

This other guy appeared interested in the conversation but then provoked the new guy about what happened in prison and brought up a lot of bad memories and stores. At that point he kind of scared him away. Remember it's not important to dwell on negative stuff because it brings up old feelings and emotions.

So at that point I begin to witness to this other guy who said he is saved but told me that he is trying to do good works to get to Heaven, even though he knows Jesus died for his sins. Please pray for him as he doesn't see his sins should count because his good deeds should make up for all the bad stuff.

One way to explain our relationship to God is to consider civil law. Imagine a man who has been charged with murder. He says to himself, "He had it coming...I did everyone a favor, and I'm basically a good person. He thinks that the judge will not be so harsh with me." He is deceiving himself because he doesn't see the serious nature of the crime.

As you talk to those unsaved, you will hear them justify the serious nature of sin. They need to tremble before God's Law, or they will never appreciate the beauty of the gospel, and turn from their sin and trust in the Savior. We must acknowledge our transgressions, and our sins before our blameless Judge (see Psalm 51:3-4).

After talking to the other guy, I left and went outside to find the first guy I had been talking to. I told him I was enjoying our conversation and was sorry for the interruption. At that point I could tell he had been thinking about what I had said inside before and told him about God's love and that God can give him a clean heart, forgiving our sins and wash us white as snow (see Psalm 51), casting our sins as far as the east is from the west (see Psalm 103:8-13). Before he left I made sure to give him a gospel tract and told him that God loves him and I be praying for him.

Here is a fascinating thing about Mark 16:15. The original Greek meaning of "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" opens up some interesting thoughts. The word for "go" is very captivating. It is poreuomai, meaning "go". The word "all" also carries with it gripping connotations. It is hapas, and actually means "all".

And if that doesn't rivet you, look closely at the word "every". It is pas, and literally means "every". So when Jesus commanded us, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature", to be true and faithful to the original text, what He was actually saying was, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature". We are so fortunate to have access to knowledge like this.

I also had another awesome time down at our local Thursday Night Farmers Market. I met up with Jon Talley and Gary Jacques. I had felt last week I was not very fruitful and only gave out about 200 or so gospel tracks. The enemy whispered to me that people where just going to throw them away.

This is something that I have learned that when we are not witnessing the enemy will tell us not to because we don't know enough or are not really good at it in the first place. Then when we are witnessing the enemy will tell us to stop because we are not really making a difference and we should go back to being a cozy Christian.

So I stood purposely next to two large trash cans and handed out more than 400 gospel tracks with only 2 rejections in the trash. So 0.5% didn't want it and threw a tract away and 99.5% did, I consider those very good odds. Most people wont event hand out a tract because they are afraid of rejection or say it just doesn't work. How do you know unless you try?

I also had more than several great conversations and remember that the face of the lie the enemy tells us is all about pride, this is because we don't want anyone to think badly of us. So step out side of your comfort zone and you will step right into God's. Please put your trust in the Lord, he will always amaze you!.

Also a side note I send out text messages to my friends and one of them had switched phones numbers. However a guy that I had texted some Bible verses too and had mentioned some upcoming events at church came to church looking for me and wanted to talk about Jesus. Please pray for him and his wife. You just never know how God will use you to impact others.

I got to go downtown again on my lunch break and got to talk to a guy who works at the Orland Farm Sanctuary with all different kinds of animals raised on today's industrialized farms that are abused from what they call factory farming. He was not sure what happens when we die, and said that he will find out when he gets there.

I got to share with him about the Bible, Christianity and Jesus Christ. He was very interested and there were a lot of things that he didn't know about. Like he didn't know that we could be saved and what that really meant. It was really an awesome conversation to talk about being secured in Jesus and knowing that we can be in Heaven.

One way to explain our relationship to God is to consider civil law. Imagine a man who has been charged with raping and murdering a woman. He says to himself, "She was just a prostitute, and I'm basically a good person, so the judge will not doubt be lenient with me...I should be out of the courtroom in no time." He is deluding himself because he doesn't see the serious nature of the crime.

As you talk to unbelievers, you will hear them demean the serious nature of sin. In their mind, bearing false witness is simply telling fibs and "white lies"...theft is trivialized...lust is "natural"...adultery is merely an "affair". They need to be made to tremble before God's Law, or they will never appreciate the beauty of the gospel. They need to hear the Law's judgment for their offenses-death and damnation-or they will not turn from their sin and trust the Savior.

Also got to talk to a guy who is a Sergeant in the United States Army and recruiting in town. He had been in the army for about 6 years, was from Washington where his wife is still at. He had been sent to Afghanistan after 9/11 for a couple of years, and got to see some live action. He told me he had seen the face of death by watching people around him die, and has seen bullets fly near him. He has experienced the fear of death, not of combat but of the loss of life. He said that he believes that we get a choice of what or where we want to go, once we die.

I was able to share about how we get the choice here and now, and not then and there. I got to share with him about what I believe and why I believe it, and how I'm secure in knowing that when I do die I know that I'm going to heaven. Remember when people ask you what you believe in they also want to know why you believe what you do. I also got to thank him for his service to our country, and was able to tell him that I'll be praying for him and his wife as well. Remember to thank our men and woman in uniform we owe them a lot for our freedom.

If you haven't heard about Michael Jackson's death your living under a rock. The man I had met before I got to encourage again and hand him the Gospel of John to take home and read.

I also got to talk to a Native American lady who is looking for work and a good church to join. We had a good time talking and got to talk about reincarnation and the truth of Jesus Christ. She shared her concerns about modern church today. You see the same divisions present in Americas Church took place among Indians before the settlers came.

One of my brothers in Christ at the Jesus Center was talking to this guy who came to serve who was new. So we invited him to church, and he was excited to come and learn the scriptures. Isn't it great to know that this kind of witnessing doesn't work? Be bold and speak the truth in Love, if you do run into Christians, encourage them to read there Bible, and obey what they read, and to pray daily as well.

Met up with a a friend named Raymond at the downtown plaza and we prayed together before stepping out in faith. I got to talk with a guy who is a believer in Jesus. He is out of work and looking for a job. He still has some personal struggles and temptations and allowed me to pray for him. We had an awesome talk about the Bible, the Gospel, and I got to give him a tract, and share my personal testimony about how Jesus has changed my life.

Before in our conversation he had said that he didn't have a pocket Bible, so I asked if I could get him one. Well I didn't have one on me or even in my car, but found a recovery Bible at a local bookstore downtown. When I gave it to him he was so thankful, and had said that he had one of these before but not as small as this one. Remember to do crazy things like buy Bibles for people we don't even know, it impacts people and can change there lives. What a wonderful day I had.

Well I went downtown again and had an awesome time at night. I got to hand out about 200 tracks and had 5 short but good conversations with people. One which I attends church and was able to encourage. However near the end of the night, I met some resistance by a so called believer who claimed to be a prophet. He has a lot of anger towards the Lord and people who encourage him to read his Bible. At one point when he was yelling at me I thought he was gonna hit me.

Matthew 5:44 says, "But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you". How we encounter people is so important when we witness to them, because it is the whole package. The words we use, how we speak, non verbal communication, etc. How we encounter them speaks volumes to them, and our words are the overflow of our heart.

Thanks be to our Awesome God, he took care of me and I had an awesome group of Christians praying right behind me (my wife Anna, and Josh and Tanya Allen). I've heard it said that when you toss a rock into a pack of wolves the one who yelps the loudest is the one who is hurt. This guy is misguided in his beliefs and is believing in a false doctrine, please pray for him to see the truth and the love of Jesus. I thank God that the day before when I encouraged a believer to read his Bible he allowed me to buy him a recovery Bible, and almost cried thanking me. We serve an Awesome God!

I had another great time at the downtown market and passed out about 400 tracks and had a few conversations. I learned this week to wait on the Lord, and ask Him for His strength and to fill me with His Holy Spirit many times. Pray that the message is getting into the right hands. I have seen people pass a tract to another person in there group and even have had many people run back up to me asking for more.

How can we keep the best thing that happened to us, only to ourselves? And that guy who claimed to be a prophet of God but didn't like to read his word, should be an example to us that we need to out witness people like him. Remember there are strangers all around you. Don't let them get away!

Jury Duty. But I got to tell people about what I believe and struck up several conversations at the county court house. Once I was selected to be on the Jury I knew God had plans for me to witness to some of the fellow Jurymen and Jurywoman and I was able to invite five people on my jury to our Church's Easter service. Most all the jurors were pretty receptive.

I had some great conversions and even had previously worked with one of the jurywoman so she got to see first hand how different I was now that I'm a Christian. Thank you Jesus! Please remember to make the most out of every opportunity. Remember you haven't "got" to go to jury duty, but you "get" to go to jury duty! The opportunity to plant seeds with the lost are all around us.

When I wasn't on Jury duty and had a day off I went downtown and had an interesting hour and half conversation talking to a man, which I could see his heart was broken and that the world had bruised him. I ask that you keep him in your prayers, as he has made up his mind that at this point he can't believe in something he cannot see and cannot believe in.

It breaks my heart to hear it but I know that the Lord can still work a change in him, and open up his heart to hear the truth and be drawn to God. He loves the things of this world too much right now but I pray that he will see the path he is heading down.

Then I meet up with Jim Culp and Jon Talley downtown. I got to talk to a guy and his friend who are looking for work. The guy has been to church but he is not sure what happens when we die. I was able to tell him about Jesus and he knows about Jesus but does not yet believe in Him. Pray his eyes will be open. It was a quick talk but they were thankful.

Then I got to talk to another guy (who told me he was named after 1900 prophet) who has been through a lot. He was working for local Home Health company about 10 years ago and saw a lot of death. He had also been in a bad car crash awhile back on highway 20 and has never looked at life the same. We got to talk about Eternity real fast and shared the Gospel with him. He has been able to see Christians who don't act like it, and I apologized to him that they misrepresented the faith. He believes in God but needs more proof of the Bible. Pray for him to see the Truth!

Another time when I didn't have jury duty which lasted two weeks, I went downtown. I had a really good conversation with a guy who did not want to talk about anything spiritual at all. Not the same guy that I met before, however after 20 minutes later he had all kinds of questions for me. We had a good time talking, but pray for him as he loves the things of this world too much right now.

I also got to talk to another guy, who had actually talked to my friend Jon before. This guy had been to church before but been burned. I apologized for those who misrepresented Jesus. We then had a great talk about Eternity and the Bible. Remember people not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is really one (see Matthew 7:16 "You shall know them by their fruits.")

The Lord has been working on my heart and I've been going downtown to our local Farmers Market downtown. I gave out about 40 tracks and had 4 really good conversations, I was really nervous but thank God he still used me. God has chosen us reach the world through us. In fact, God uses our faithful (and sometimes fearful) efforts at evangelism to help us grow.

Through evangelizing we must commit ourselves to God in trust and we must be familiar with His Word. The more we know about God, the better our ability to answer the questions put before us. There are many other blessings associated with evangelizing, but the greatest I have experienced is the personal joy of seeing someone come into a relationship with Christ. And of course, Pray, Pray, and Pray.

It was early and I really don't like getting up before the sun does, however the Lord is not working on a time table. I had such a blast and was able to share with 5 people, 1 who I had talked with before a previous time.

I got to talk to one who believes in Jesus, but a friend has invited him to Jehovah Witness meetings where he is now going. I told him that the 144,000 is Israel and not the church, and he said that he thinks there are a few seats left in Heaven. We had a great talk about the Bible and I got to encourage him to read his Bible and talk to God.

I got to talk to a second guy who believes in reincarnation, but went to church before. He lost his son, and then went through a divorce. His heart is broken. I told him that I would be praying for him. Another guy I got to talk to also believes in Jesus but his wife of a very short time died. This left him very heart broken and upset with God. He is trying to fix the broken heart, but only Jesus can do that. We had an awesome talk.

Also down at the Jesus Center I talked to a guy who has an Islamic faith and grew up in Iran. We had a super cool talk about how the Qumran says our works will be put on a scale and how a sure way to get into Heaven is to die for the faith and in the process take others lives. He doesn't believe in that now. I told him about Jesus, and he said that Jesus could not forgive him because of his sin. We had a good conversation indeed.

Also my wife Anna and I got to give a ride to the last guy and we drove him up to Forest Ranch who we had met before. He is a believer and was in the Jesus Movement in the 70s. Got to encourage him and share with him. He is sharing with the downcast about Jesus. A cool guy who is out there for God.

The Gospel was shared with each person and I leave out there names for respect (although both God and I know there names). Please pray for them, I was able to plant seeds, water some, and please pray as Jesus will do the rest. Step out for Jesus and be Bold!

So, I thought that I was going to be "Bold For Jesus" and go downtown with my friend Jon Talley, however the Lord had different plans. Oh, I still went down town and talked to people about Jesus, only I was being "Bold With Jesus". From the moment I sat down with a man who the Lord had already been working on his heart. Please pray for divine appointments and to God for people before we talk to people about our God. And remember we are to have conversations with people about Jesus not presentations.

He was a teacher from Brazil and just got his working visa because his friends invited to America. We talked about how nice the day is and then about our jobs for a little bit. Since he is a teacher looking for a job I asked him what he thought about the school shootings and so we talked about that for a bit. I then asked him what he thought happened to those people, did they just walk off the face of the earth are did they go somewhere.

From using that we begin to talk about good and evil, heaven and hell, life and death, and the Bible and about Jesus. He had said that he grew up somewhat in the church but His mom is still very religious as is his brother. He said that he didn't like them forcing their beliefs on him and that it should be a choice and not pushed on people. I agree totally, however we continued to talk for over an hour on my lunch break. Please remember if your going to shove Jesus down someones throat please don't share him at all.

We talked about what is on the other side of this life and how do we get to a place better than this. We then talked about the Ten Commandments and how no one can keep them, and about how we cannot erase our past. But I was able to tell Him about Jesus, and what he did for us, and how we can be with him after this life. By the end of the conversation he asked me if I needed to get back to work, and I told him that I would. Be willing to go the extra mile it means so much to people for them to see that you care.

I told him that I was there to talk to him about my faith and what I believe in because God told me go and talk to him. He was very surprised and told me that I wasted my lunch break on him, and I so disagreed. I handed him a tract with more information and we talked about churches and he asked me where I go in town, so I also gave him a card with our church information as well. I could tell he had been thinking of checking out a local church but just didn't know of any good ones.

As I was leaving he said that if he was to share this with his mom that she would be too happy. You see he told me that his mom has been praying for him to go to church and this would be an answer to her prayers if he decided to go to church. I could see that he was now thinking about what we had talked and about what Jesus did for him. Please remember just because we go to church does not make us saved. Only the blood of Jesus can wash us white as snow.

Remember folks that every friend you have today began as a stranger. If you are married, there was a time that your spouse was a total stranger. Just think: you actually married a total stranger. You will want to make sure in heaven that there are some strangers (although they will be strangers no more) that will thank you for taking the time to share with them what Jesus did for them. We serve an Amazing God! Don't be afraid to step out in faith.

As I was doing some yard work in the front of my house two people approached me. They were going around and talking about water or such subjects that were of interest to people. I asked them if they knew about the water walk (supports building wells in places like Africa) in Bidwell Park this year but they switched subjects.

The guy said that they were sharing their beliefs with people and I told him that's really cool. So we had about a 10 to 15 minute calm discussion on the Bible, Jesus, and our Beliefs. Remember it's important to be real with people and hear them out.

I told them that I was a Christian and that I believe that Jesus died on the cross and on the third day rose again. And that he paid for all of our sins and is coming back again one day. The guy told me that he believed that Jesus died and paid the price for our sins, but he also said that faith without works is dead, and wanted to show me some scriptures. I could tell we where going to have an interesting conversation. Please remember it's important to take our time when we talk with people about Jesus.

Ah...I said you mean James chapter 2 where it talks about Faith and Works. The guy said yeah that's the section and asked my thoughts (see James 2:20). I told him that I think faith is like the root of what I believe and works are the fruit. And that we are not saved by our works (see Ephesians 2:8-9), just like the man that died next to Jesus on the cross.

He said "today you will be with me in paradise" and so the man only believed and Jesus never told him to get off his cross and do some works to be with him in paradise (see Luke 23:43 ). I do believe that man next to Jesus on the cross saw his sins upon Jesus and that he had sinned against a Holy God and at that point repented and trusted in Jesus.

The guy then asked me if I thought works were something we should be doing. I told him that while works are good, they are more of a heartfelt response to what Jesus did for us and it allows us to grow closer to Him. And that one day we will be in heaven with Jesus. To that The guy asked what I thought we would be doing in Heaven.

I said I really didn't know but I do know that we will be worshiping God and He will be our only source of light as scriptures tell us and all we need (see Revelation 21:23). Please remember we have a concern for other peoples soul and share the truth in love.

The guy said that even the disciples where commanded to go into the entire world and preach the gospel (see Matthew 28:19-20), however I could tell we had some different thoughts on what the Gospel is. So, I pointed out again and again that I believe that the gospel is simply this "that Jesus died on the cross, rose again on the third day, was seen by more than 500 people and will be coming back again and those who believe in him will join him in Heaven". It's time we rise up church and go into the entire world and preach the gospel.

From there the discussion we were having went into Heaven, Hell, and our fallen state of sin. The guy talked about how Adam and Eve messed it all up for the rest of us. I told him that if I were in Adams shoes I probably would have done the same thing and it would have been just a matter of time.

The guy then talked about hell and Shiloh which is the grave of man where people go when they die and is really just 6 feet below the ground. To that I replied that I didn't really know much about that but knew that when Jesus died on the cross he lead the captives free, which means he took home Abraham and his descendants and led them to Heaven. Remember it's okay to admit that we don't know, because we don't know everything.

At that point I was really interested in which church they were from and asked "So which local church are you from?" and the guy replied we are Jehovah Witness. (Oh, I thought how wonderful, my pastor just talked about Revelation and how Jehovah Witness believe that they are the 144,000 and them alone.)

So I asked "What do you think about the 144,000 mentioned in Rev. 7 and 14?". The guy said that he believed that we need to take Revelation figuratively and not literally. I told him I thought different and believe that the 144,000 is Israel and not the church as he has stated. And that I think it's Israel because the Bible says it's Israel and even list's out 12,000 for each of the 12 tribes.

To that the guy said that he thinks not everyone is going to Heaven. I agreed but once again we had a different view on God's standard and his Holiness. However I told the guy (and the girl standing next to him quietly) that Jesus died on the cross for us all and not just for a chosen 144,000 only.

I told him that I think the Bible would say something like the 144,000 is like the people of Israel or like the church if that's what it was trying to say. I told him that just as Jesus marks his followers in Revelation, Ephesians talks about how we are sealed with the Holy Spirit that the anti-Christ will also seal his own (see Ephesians 1:13-14).

We discussed about what and who the anti-Christ is and I told him that there can be more than one of them and that one day the last one will sit on the throne in the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem and declare that he is god.

I also told him that I believe that Jesus is throughout the Bible, and even in Genesis it mentions the trinity about how it says "come let us make man in our image" (see Genesis 1:26-27) and in the beginning of the Bible it talks about the spirit hovering above the waters (see Genesis 1:2). Please remember it's important to talk about truth and to do so in love.

The guy said that he's not sure about the trinity and that even Jesus prayed to the Father but wouldn't need to if they were really one. To that I replied honest that I didn't fully understand the trinity and that I'm glad I can't put God in a box where I can figure out how it all works and that I'm okay with believing that the three are one.

The guy said that he thought Jesus came from the Lord. And I told Him that I believe that Jesus was God incarnate and had a perfect relationship with the father. Also that when we die we are absent from the body and present with the Lord (see 2 Corinthians 5:6-8).

At that point I think the guy did not want to talk further and thanked me for taking a moment of my time. I said no problem and shook their hands and got to know their names at that point. The guy asked if I would be interested in further discusses and be around next week. I said that I' am and will be around the same time on the weekends.

As they were about to leave I asked if I could pray for them, and that's when the guy told me "No, I'm sorry but we can't do that, that they could pray for me but now allow me to pray for them". So I told him that I would be praying for them anyways. So then they went on their way.

Right then I begin to pray as they walked down the street and later came inside to do some research into what Jehovah Witness believe and I couldn't believe how the Lord led me to share exactly what the main differences we had on Bible, Jesus, and our Beliefs.

(I found out that we differed on the following: the trinity, man's soul once he dies, if hell is real, who are the 144,000, about salvation such as grace vs. works, and that Jesus was crucified on a cross.) Please pray for them as I continue to think about them and pray for them now more than ever, and pray for me to continue to have boldness.

I also shared on what we have in common but couldn't believe that the Lord had just used even me. The previous night I was at a Church men's dinner and we read 2 Timothy 4 about being ready in season and out of season (see 2 Timothy 4:2).

Wow, this event has really caused me to see the need to share the true Gospel, and to become more bold in sharing my faith in Jesus Christ with others. Thank you Lord for allowing me to share your word and your truth in Love!

Please pray for me as I'm wanting to be more bold for Jesus, and out-witness these people. Also this month I met a new friend named Jon Talley who introduced me to a book called "One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven" by Mark Cahill. Awesome book! (check out www.markcahill.org)
