Need Help? How to Find True Happiness

I Need Help! How Can I Find True Happiness?

One thing that pretty much every person wants in life is happiness. However the fleeting happiness that this world offers comes and goes, depending on your circumstances. The happiness this world offers just will not do it.

According to the Bible, if we seek to know God and discover His plan for our life, then we will find the happiness that has eluded us for so long. Not from seeking it, but from seeking Him!

The Bible says, “Happy are the people whose God is the Lord.”
Psalm 144:15

World Leprosy Day 2013

Please pray for Gospel for Asia's leprosy ministry, that many suffering from this terrible disease would embrace the Savior, who is reaching out to them in love.

What is Leprosy?

Leprosy is a chronic bacterial disease that is not highly contagious, contrary to popular belief, and is treatable with the right resources.

Unfortunately, many people in developing countries do not have access to treatment and are shunned by society. Since nearly 70 percent of leprosy cases are found in India, Gospel for Asia's leprosy ministry is devoted to sharing the Good News of Jesus with the victims of this disease, as well as helping them with the many challenges and needs they face.

World Leprosy Day

World Leprosy Day is held to increase awareness and to reach those affected by leprosy. For this day, Gospel For Asia-supported missionaries will be ministering at many leprosy colonies, spreading the love of Christ through practical gifts to bless the leprosy patients and their families.

Please pray for the following areas of India and the various ministries that will take place on World Leprosy Day, that the Lord would bless the believers and help them communicate His incredible love for the leprosy patients.

Karnataka: Visiting a leprosy colony and distributing fresh fruit.
Uttar Pradesh: Distributing food packets to 60 patients.
Haryana: Providing blankets for 25 families in a leprosy colony.
Chhattisgarh: Providing hygienic items to 60 patients in 2 leprosy colonies.
Tamil Nadu: Distributing antiseptic, ointment and cotton to leprosy patients who beg in the railway stations.
Rajasthan: Distributing food and clothes in a leprosy colony.
Bihar: Giving blankets to 20 patients in a leprosy colony.
West Bengal: Ministering to and encouraging 61 leprosy patients.
Madhya Pradesh: Reaching out to leprosy patients at a railway station.

Catch a glimpse into the lives of people in a leprosy colony as Ashley shares about her visit.

Ready for the return of Jesus? The Parable of the Ten Virgins

Question: "What is the meaning of the Parable of the Ten Virgins?"
http://www.GotQuestions.org

Answer: As we take a good look at the Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), we must acknowledge up front that there has been much debate as to the meaning of these words of our Savior. At least one aspect of this parable can be known with absolute certainty. The bridegroom is Jesus Christ, and this parable describes His return. Both the Old Testament (Isaiah 54:4-6; 62:4-5; Hosea 2:19) and the New Testament (John 3:27-30; Matthew 9:15; Mark 2:19-20) represent the Messiah as a bridegroom. Both God’s people Israel and the Church are described in Scripture as the bride (Ephesians 5:25-32) for the Messiah.

The historical setting can also be known with a fair amount of certainty. In describing a first-century Jewish wedding, D.A. Carson in the Expositor’s Bible Commentary describes the setting this way: “Normally the bridegroom with some close friends left his home to go to the bride’s home, where there were various ceremonies, followed by a procession through the streets – after nightfall – to his home.

The ten virgins may be bridesmaids who have been assisting the bride; and they expect to meet the groom as he comes from the bride’s house…Everyone in the procession was expected to carry his or her own torch. Those without a torch would be assumed to be party crashers or even brigands. The festivities, which might last several days, would formally get under way at the groom’s house.” The torch was either a lamp with a small oil tank and wick or a stick with a rag soaked in oil on the end of it which would require occasional re-soaking to maintain the flame.

Of interpretive significance is which return of Christ is this? Is it His return for the rapture of the Church, or is it His return to set up the Millennial Kingdom at the end of the Tribulation? Dispensational scholars divide over this issue, and no attempt will be made to answer that question here. Regardless of which return it is, the lessons to be learned are relevant to both.

The overall and easily seen thrust of the parable is that Christ will return at an unknown hour and that His people must be ready. Being ready means preparing for whatever contingency arises in our lives and keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus at all times while we eagerly await His coming. As seen in the fact that all the virgins were sleeping when the call came indicates that it doesn’t matter what we are doing when Christ returns. We may be working, eating, sleeping, or pursuing leisure activities. Whatever it is, we must be doing it in such a way that we don’t have to “make things right” (get more oil) when He comes. This would apply to either the coming of Christ for His Church or for the Tribulation saints as they await His second coming.

Being ready for Christ’s return ultimately involves one major thing which manifests itself in several areas of our lives. If we would be ready for Christ’s return, we must be born again through saving faith in Jesus Christ…His death, burial and literal resurrection from the dead (John 3:16; 14:6; Romans 10:9 and 10; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:1-10). Saving faith in Jesus Christ will manifest itself in every aspect of our lives. The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) will begin to show. A desire for greater holiness and less sin will be apparent. And a consistent looking for His coming will mark our lives.

One of the best passages articulating what saving grace and faith look like in a believer’s life is Titus 2:11-14, “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."

The five virgins who have the extra oil represent the truly born again who are looking with eagerness to the coming of Christ. They have saving faith and have determined that, whatever occurs, be it lengthy time or adverse circumstances, when Jesus returns, they will be looking with eagerness. The five virgins without the oil represent false believers who enjoy the benefits of the Christian community without true love for Christ. They are more concerned about the party than about longing to see the bridegroom. Their hope is that their association with true believers (“give us some of your oil” of verse 8) will bring them into the kingdom at the end. This, of course, is never the case. One person’s faith in Jesus cannot save another.

The “Lord, lord” and “I do not know you” of verses 11 and 12 fit very well with Jesus’ condemnation of the false believers of Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’”

May we not be found “going away to make the purchase” (v. 10) when Christ returns. Take the time now to fill your lamp with oil and take extra along. Keep waiting and watching with joy and anticipation.

Valentine’s Day: Do you feel forgotten and unloved?

Oh Valentine’s Day, but I feel forgotten and unloved.
Everyone is buying flowers and chocolates for someone special, but you feel lonely and left out. No boyfriend or girlfriend. Maybe your spouse pays little attention to you, or your loved ones live far away.

No human can fully satisfy the need to feel loved. Only God can fill that void. You are His child and He loved you so much that He sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you so you can have eternal life with Him. He longs for a relationship with you and promises never to leave your side if you trust in Him.

With God, we are complete. The Bible says He calls us friends and knows us by name. Invite Him into your heart and experience a truly fulfilling relationship.

Passing through the gate-way to Eternity?

A real historical event Jesus once told about a rich man and Lazarus is found in Luke 16:14-31, what follows is an overview of this event. Now some people think this is a parable or only a story, or they even think that the rich man went to Hades because he consistently refused to help a poor man outside his gate. But that's not what the Bible is saying at all. It’s good to help others but if it’s done in the name of Jesus then people will know they need Jesus to be saved.

This real historical event about the rich man and Lazarus gives us a glimpse into the un-seen world before Jesus rose from the grave. Again I do not believe that this is a parable, and for one reason (among many) we see individuals are named (Lazarus is mentioned 4 times and Abraham's mentioned 6 times). So, we have every reason to believe that Jesus is giving us an actual "case history," and because Jesus is the Man from Heaven we can trust Him. Also It’s not an account of giving to the poor but trusting in the Lord.

19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fellfn from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

In Luke 16:19 we see that the one man is clothed in purple (a royal color), and also fared sumptuously which means he had more than he needed, so he was a rich in mans eyes. But God saw his heart and had a different perspective than that of man who looks at the outward.

In Luke 16:22 we read that Lazarus was so destitute that he did not even get a burial, however he was carried away to Paradise by the angles. Why Paradise? Because Lazarus had a true relationship based on faith with the true and living God.

In Luke 16:23 it mentions Hades which is the place of the dead in the Greek language. You see prior to Christ's resurrection there two places in the place of the dead- the place of the righteous and the place of the unrighteous. Now, why was the place of the righteous called Abraham's bosom? The Bible says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. So by faith looking forward to the Savior to come and he trusted in the Lord for his salvation.

In Luke 23:23 Jesus said to the repentant thief on cross "today you will be with Me in Paradise." Why Paradise? Because he trusted in Jesus as his Savior and was saved by faith. So again in Luke 16:19-31, Jesus said Lazarus was in Paradise (Abraham's bosom). Why Paradise? Because he trusted in a Messiah to come to atone for his sins because he had a personal relationship with God.

24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

In Luke 16:24 we now see that the rich man is the beggar, who is pleading with Abraham and Lazarus for a drop of water. A bit of a role reversal but in Gods eyes Lazarus was not poor but spiritually rich.

In Luke 16:25 we read that the so called rich man was in torment but was not tortured. He is in torment or in anguish because of his conscience (Con-Science=With-Knowledge). Abraham says to him "Son, remember that in your lifetime", so he can remember his past. And he is able to feel heat and pain, to thirst for water, and experience sorrow for rejecting God.

I believe that those who reject the salvation of Jesus that their memories will be the greatest torment of hell. Why? Because they will never forget that they rejected God, and they have no relationship with God. However just as Lazarus had comfort we have a great comfort in the Lord, our Father of mercy and the God of all comfort.

In Luke 16:26 we see that the two places are divided by great gulf (in the Greek: chasma where we get the word chasm from). So there is a void space between the two places and there is no crossing over. This is a good reminder that there is also no purgatory, and no on-the-fence stance, as it’s either with the Lord or separated from the Lord for eternity.

As Christians we who are now "in Christ" ascend and go up to Heaven to be with Jesus, not down to Abraham's bosom as it’s no more since Christ rose from the grave. The first martyr recorded in Scripture is Stephen and upon his death, he gazed up into heaven and called upon Jesus to receive his spirit. Another example that we ascend and go up to Heaven is found in 2 Corinthians 12:2 where Paul says he was caught up into third heaven (not a level). In 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 we are told that today, when a believer dies, he or she goes up and is absent from body present with the Lord.

27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”

In Luke 16:27 we see that now the so called rich man cares about others, but it's a bit too late. He was selfish but now cares for the fate of his family, and now wishes for a believer to witness to his family members.

In Luke 16:28 the key word is testify (which means to cause it to be believed) and this shows that Lazarus was a real witness for the Lord. We too should share the Lord with everyone and testify as Romans 1:16 says "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes."

It’s not enough to feed people and help then off the street, because if they don’t have Jesus they die and go to Hell. It’s good to help others but if it’s done in the name of Jesus then people will know they need Jesus to be saved. Some call it the Social Gospel but there is only one true Gospel and it’s all about Jesus.

Make sure that whatever you or the Lord in whatever ministry that you are allowed to openly preach the Gospel. In football if the enemy strips away the ball you can’t score a touchdown and it’s the same that if the enemy strips away the Gospel message from you can’t win the lost to Jesus.

In Luke 16:29-31 we see that some people are not persuaded to trust in the Lord. Why? Because if people won’t believe God’s Word,  they won’t believe if one rose from the dead either. And of course, One did rise from the dead - Jesus, and yet even then some people still won’t believe. Even Moses and the prophets pointed to Jesus (Read John 5:39-47) and in Luke 24:27 we are told that beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He [Jesus] expounded to them [on the Emmaus road] in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

So many today say they would believe God only if they could only see a sign from God then it would be enough for them to be compelled to believe. But faith which leads unto salvation comes from hearing, and
hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

In summary we can see that the rich man wasn't lost because he was rich but because he did not listen to the law and the prophets, and trust in God. People today are lost because they are without a personal relationship with Jesus. Will you be lost for the same reason? Are you prepared for eternity?

FREE Download: God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew

In 1955, Brother Andrew smuggled his first Bibles into restricted Eastern Europe. Since then, he and his ministry, Open Doors International, have helped deliver millions of Bibles to Christians in the most high-risk places all over the world.

As Brother Andrew approached the inspection checkpoints, he would pray that the guards would simply not see the Bibles he was carrying - and they never did. In God's Smuggler, you will hear Brother Andrew's amazing stories of how, again and again, God aided his mission to bring the Bible into closed countries. Simon Vance provides compelling narration for this story; christianaudio reviewers said they "couldn't stop listening" to this audiobook.

As a boy he dreamed of being a spy - undercover behind enemy lines. As a man he found himself undercover for God. Brother Andrew was his name, and for decades his life story, recounted in God's Smuggler, has awed and inspired millions. This bestseller tells of the young Dutch factory worker's incredible efforts to transport Bibles across closed borders - and the miraculous ways in which God provided for him every step of the way.

This story is reintroduced in a 35th anniversary edition with a new foreword and afterword. Brother Andrew's story remains as inspiring today as it was thirty-five years ago, and with this new release it will motivate a new generation to risk everything to follow God's call.

Tanzania—Christian Teen Released from Prison
Source: VOM Sources
John 14:6
Eighteen-year-old Eva Abdallah, who spent the past year in prison on blasphemy charges, has been released from prison after the High Court of Tanzania overturned her conviction. Eva was arrested in January 2012 when local Muslims in her home state of Bagamoyo accused her of urinating on a Quran, and in July she was sentenced to two years in prison. But on Jan. 9, 2013, the High Court acquitted her of the charges and ordered her release. Eva was attending a Bible school and living with a pastor’s family when she was arrested. Her parents disowned her when she became a believer as a young teen. Praise God for her release, and pray that she will find a safe place to live. Pray that those who accused her will come to know Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:17
Four months ago, National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrillas demanded that Alicia Castilla leave her home in Arauca, in northeastern Colombia. On the evening of Jan. 7, during a visit from the family’s pastor, assassins entered her home and shot her in front of her three children and her father. She died immediately. The guerrillas had killed Alicia’s husband, a lay-minister, two years earlier. Pray for Christians in Colombia, who face daily threats from rebel groups opposed to the spread of Christianity.
Iran—Armenian Pastor Conditionally Released

Ephesians 6:16
After spending 15 days in Iran’s Evin Prison, Rev. Vruir Avanessian was conditionally released after posting about $60,000 of his personal property as bail. The pastor was released due to serious health problems and the need for special medical care, but he was ordered to await a court summons. So far, authorities have given no reason for his arrest, and no charges have been filed. Vruir, an Armenian Christian pastor, and several other Christians were arrested by secret police from the Ministry of Information while gathered for a Christmas celebration. About 50 men and women were detained for several hours and ordered to provide their full name, address, cellphone number and other personal information, such as Facebook and e-mail account IDs and passwords. While in prison, Vruir was transported to the hospital for treatment of his diabetes, heart disease and kidney failure, and he returned to the hospital prior to his release. Pray for Vruir as he struggles to maintain his health while awaiting a court summons.
